That's too bad, their whole game (and season) was centered around his play.
We stayed for the championship game last night, and moved to the opposite side of the field house for the Minn vs Dayton game.....his injury occured at our end of the court. It happened so quick, no one even knew what happened..all of sudden....he was just down on the floor in pain.
My guess is, Minnesota will have a tough time finishing above .500 the rest of the year without him.
Also, Dayton was the best team in the OS field...Minnesota, even if Mbakwe had played healthy, couldn't have beat Dayton. Dayton has size that can run the court, and size that can shoot from inside and out....they have quick and strong guards that push the game offensively and defensively. All of their starters and subs never looked, or played tired....they were lead by Mr Illinois basketball and former Southern Illinois recruit and former Southern Illinois player, Kevin Dillard.
Baring their own injuries, Dayton should have another 20 game winning season....if not a 25+ game winning season.
Hard to believe that Dayton is so close to Terre Haute, and we never play them...home-and-away. What's the driving time between TH and Dayton, 2 1/2 hours....if that.
