I can see Mizzou, Pitt and Rutgers. I'd be surprised if Nebraska left the B12.

Believe that Nebraska has been pretty vocal (behind the scenes) in LEAVING the B12 -- apparently they've tired of the texas-centric view of the conference...

I was listening to a Husker weekly radio show, and I got the vibe (from talk show guy) they would be receptive to going to the B10, Like stated before Texas Dominates the B12 publicity.

B10 West

Minnesota
Iowa
Illinois
Nebraska
Missouri
Wisconsin
Northwestern

B10 East

Michigan
Ohio St.
Penn ST.
Purdue

Not a bad looking conference

From NCAA Football FanHouse on AOL:

UPDATE: Now, the Big Ten itself has reportedly offered up their own denial. Not only that, commissioner Jim Delany has publicly stated he would contact the commissioners of affected conferences before going after specific schools in any expansion plans, and that he has not done so to this point. Clearly, nothing even remotely eminent is in the works just yet.

Earlier in the article the possibility of a 16 team Big 10 was discussed.

They want the specific teams for a reason... MONEY. Pitt doesn't bring them money. Rumor is they want Texas, Nebraska and Notre Dame the worst... all others are second choices.

aren't texas and nebraska a bit illogical?

While I doubt they worry about $$$ (and maybe the BigTen network can fund it...) are the travel requirements for non-revenue sports a potential deal breaker for a texas and nebraska addition?

Pitt, nd and Mizzu wouldn't be as far to travel...

Sports Illustrated had a good feature a couple of weeks ago; one scenario had the Big Ten nearly killing the Big East with this move and then the ACC performing the death blow.

Unfortunately, that scenario also spelled out the death of the NCAA; kill the big east and you're left w/ the Big Ten, Big 12 (with TCU as a new member, Pac-10 (or 12 with Utah and BYU being added), the ACC and SEC.

Now ALL of the 'power' is in those 5 conferences and they withdraw from the NCAA to form their own EXCLUSIVE Assoc/Org and the NCAA goes the way of the NAIA...

I'll post the link if I find it

Money money money

I realize money is aways the deciding factor, but winning should be a factor for some schools. Look at memphis. They remained in conf usa. The big dog in the conference...
Look at depaul, a chicago school and a dog in the big east. I would like to see them in the mvc for bb.

Memphis wanted into the Big East and got denied. Just FYI. As for DePaul, bad, bad hires hurt them. I look for them to rebound soon.

You're exactly correct -- depending on how this entire merging/alignment settles; it's not too hard to envision a BCS-only organization of collegiate athletic programs NOT called the NCAA in the future.

And it would be BAD for all current NCAA conferences NOT part of the BCS; I
haven't found that initial Sports Illustrated article (last 4-6 weeks)... but one scenario had the Big Ten nearly killing the Big East with this move and then the ACC performing the death blow.

Stay tuned... It's going to be a bumpy ride!

Not that the NCAA and current conference formations have made a lot of sense, but this is going to make a mess of everything.

Not sure i understand your position?

all conferences? just the BCS confs? The NCAA needs reform but some type of umbrella organization is required, no?
