This is the big series we've been talking about for weeks...saying that it will all come down to these three games to determine which of these two teams will win the MVC League Championship. Beautiful weather expected for all three games this Thursday-Saturday and two teams that are motivated to play hard.

Here's the preview of this weekend's series from GoSycamores.com:

PERFECT Spring weather for this series. Here's the forecast as of Thursday morning:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 76. East wind between 7 and 9 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 49. East wind between 4 and 7 mph becoming calm.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming south southeast between 4 and 7 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. Southeast wind between 3 and 7 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 86. South southeast wind between 3 and 10 mph.

With Bacus and Petree on the bump tonight, is anybody going to score a run? Could we have an O/U for the entire series of 5 runs? 8 runs?
Looks like there will be very few opportunities to score the next 3 days - let's hope the Trees can take advantage of any that they get.

Here's hoping that Coach Heller has Ort "swinging away"...we'll need his power. He's been hitting the ball WELL the past month (albeit sometimes, directly at a fielder). The odds are in his favor now...

I'll be at the game tonight. Hopefully we can win tonight and secure the title and just play baseball the next two days. Hopefully we don't let MSU win the first 2 game and make the last game a must-win.

FIRST INNING: Great to see The Trees get to Petree early...snapping his streak of non-era games that started in March! No earned runs in MVC play until tonight. Now, let's hope he doesn't settle in in the second.

Second inning: Curry drives in two earned runs...as left-fielder mis-judges deep fly. ISU leads 3-0. Seven hits and three runs in two innings is something foreign to Petree!

Top of Third: MSU gets back at us with two runs on a walk, an error that could have been a double play, a sac bunt and a single.

Bottom of Fourth: ISU loads the bases after two were out...with a walk, a single and a walk...but can't plate a run. 3-3 after four.

hopefully with all these hits ISU is getting they'll start to score more runs. Sure wish we could have added that 4th run on the triple

Ya, Heller had a lil' too much Vana White in him on that decision...should've held up for a double, playing it safe early in the game.

Looks like we'll have to go to the pen soon as with two outs in the sixth, Bacus is almost at 100 pitches. He needs to be ready for MVC Tournament, so Heller has to weigh the options.

After five, Petree is at 92 pitches...so he's on borrowed time soon as well. After six, Bacus is at 95.

Who'd you favor...Hoch?

Nice "D" by ISU on those final 2 outs (Wampler & Hedges)....

after having men in scoring position the past 2 innings we need to get to Petree this inning, off to a good start here
