I was helping a friend setup his new Home Theater system last night... needed to test out the surround sound and DVD (Blu-ray) player....
The guy puts in the movie Hoosiers!
Now... I LOVE Hoosiers... but it is probably not the best "reference disc" for testing your surround sound!

Ok,,ok.... I just notice it while at Wally World shopping this past week........................ geezz louise................
Sony Beta Max was better than VHS, but it never overtook the VHS format. Beta had a limited offering. I know this from experience as I was told Beta was the way to go even though it was more expensive, so I opted for Beta and it went by the wayside compared to VHS.
Just a matter of time before Blu-Ray becomes obsolete. Technology is moving fast, but at the manufacturers whim.

That is a given...
You can usually count on the fact that once a medium becomes "recordable", they (industry) have already moved on to the next medium. With the price of external hard-drives and the speed of internet traffic in people's homes... I'd imagine that we are pretty close to just having a "central media storage" unit. The PS3 is pretty close to that as it is.. Internal Hard Drive, ability to hook up external Hard Drive. Wireless, media player, Blu-Ray Player, USB ports... it's got it all. If it could just "broadcast" wirelessly now.... it would do it all.
