the MVC championship meet is Saturday at SIU and what is probably a first, both Bradley men and women's teams are picked to win. I think the women probably will, but on the men's side I really think we're going to win. Sure Bradley beat us at ND & pre nationals, but at ND we got out slow, then at pre nats we had a guy lose a shoe, who then lost a bunch of places, otherwise we beat Bradley there.

It will come down to the 4-5 men for each team, whoever has the best 4-5 men will win the men's meet

ISU men are picked 2nd (with SIU), while the women are picked 7th (about right).

Sycamore Men Picked Second, Women Seventh For MVC Cross Country Championship

ST. LOUIS – The Indiana State men's cross country team has been picked to finish in a tie for second while the Sycamore women were selected to finish seventh in the pre-championship poll of Missouri Valley Conference coaches released today (Tuesday) by the Valley office.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The members of the Indiana State cross country team will be running for the Missouri Valley Conference championship on Saturday when the league teams gather at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., for the 2014 Men's and Women's Championship.

as the article reiterates, this will be a close meet, I think there are 4 teams who could win, but the article mentions 7. It will come down to everyone's 4-5 runners, so ours need to be close to our 2-3 runners (on the men's side)

For the women I hope Nicole can place top 10, she's worked hard this year! The team as a whole is still a bit weak. Anything better than 7th will be very good
 
stay tuned later this morning for reports from the meet, can Mascari win his 3rd straight MVC title? Can the ISU men climb back to #1 after a dismal 7th place finish in 2013? Can Nicole Lucas finish in the top 10? Can the ISU women do better than their predicted 7th place finish?

just an FYI, the Indiana state high school cross country meets are today at the ISU course, women race at 1:00pm, men at 1:45pm. Lot's of people we're recruiting in these races too.

Terre Haute will be busy again today.
 
38 degrees with a north wind as the women prepare to start their race in a couple minutes, perfect weather!

finally some news, Nicole Lucas finishes 14th to lead the ISU women, running 17:38 for 5k. No team scores yet, top 10 are all conference, so she missed out on that
 
men are off and 200 meters into the race ISU's 4th runner falls, but is able to get back up and continue. Ugh

still a large pack around 2 miles, ISU's top 3 there, like I said, this meet will come down to who's 4-5 runners do the best
