I was looking at scores, it's really too bad YSU let UNI beat them today, YSU had it, then gave it away at the end.

One thing is for sure. It leaves NO DOUBT what needs to happen next week at MS. It will be a very tough game but hey, weirder things have happened. If the weather cooperates, it will be an incredible atmosphere out there.

WIU needs another loss too so we dont tie with them.

Yes, WIU holds the edge. They win out and they win the conference. We beat UNI, win out and UNI beats WIU we're good, but we need to take care of our own business first. UNI sure isn't going to be easy.

UNI won't be easy, but they ARE beatable, this won't be a "gimmie" for them. They're playing the "new" ISU this week, hopefully they'll look past this game and ISU can win.

UNI should have lost at YSU this weekend, but won in the last minute.

Western also has to go through Southern as do we. Soutern is still a talented team and can spoil anyones season. Fortunately I don't think our boys care who we are playing....this year we're always the underdog (even with our great stats)...Western has the ability to let their success go to their head.

YSU has lost to UNI ten years in a row. Lots of those years, YSU "coulda" won, just as any other team "could" win any game, anywhere. I listened to the game and had my people there and it was a case of, again, UNI toying with YSU, commanding the entire game and having the gameday experience and maturity to win. They know how to beat YSU, much like SIU has known how to beat UNI the last three years.

Re the INSU contest this coming weekend - in the many years I have been associated with UNI football as a player, coach and devoted fan, I cannot think of a time, ever, when UNI has overlooked or looked past an opponent. They play to win and to win big. Saturday's game will be no exception. Nevertheless, as mentioned by a couple people here, this IS the "new" INSU and will require much closer scutiny than in years past.

This will be a tight game, and I just ISU can win another close game at home like they did against Missouri State.

The key for us will be to avoid turnovers and to get an early lead. These players are very confident at home, but with their history (particularly against Northern Iowa), that can be fragile if they get down. The defense needs to step up their play and contain the QB, who it appears wants to lead the conference in rushing. He's a JUCO transfer that has pretty much had his way running the ball. C'mon safeties, lay some wood on him!

UNI vs. ISU

When I played the games between UNI and us were always battles. Hard hitting....punch you in the mouth games. 03...UNI defense was hot and held us without anything until the fourth where we had a pick for a TD and then got the ball back the next series after a fumble. Made quick TD. Then got the ball back on our like 15 with just over 2 min left. Got down to the UNI 2 with just under a min and Dokes made a spectacular INT in the endzone. Never forget that game. 02 Homecoming....comeback win for the sycamores. Sophomore tailback Jake Shields (one of the best back I ever played with) comes in and gets over 100 yds and scores the final two TDS to put us ahead. 01...really out played us on the defensive side of the ball. They were able to pound the ball on us the whole game. Couple that with the punt return for a TD and the short field from the INT and we were in a whole we couldn't climb out of (that game made me hate playing in the dome...and that freakn' Panther roar). So even in those years that UNI was pretty good we were able to play with them and win one at home. So the possibility is there. Defense needs to show up. The game will be won or lost by our D this week. Go Sycamores!!!
