MVC and Summit (Mid-Continent) schools have always had a shoe into the MVFC (Gateway) since the conference was established. Making it official is fine, as long as it includes both the MVC and Summit, but I wouldn't mind seeing a clause that states that the schools have to be from the Midwest to skip the normal voting process. Otherwise we may be seeing trips to Utah, Texas, and/or Colorado in the near future.

So, if the Summit adds Tarleton State or Weber State, we get the privilege of adding those road trips to our budget, a budget that is apparently not opting into rev sharing year one?

The best time to make certain decisions was 20 years ago. The second best time is the present. The worst time is when it's too late.
Per Todd Golden and some FOIA digging, ISU did surreptitiously try to go non-scholly in the early 2000's and bungled it royally as certain admins had no idea what they were doing when it came to the numbers....shocking.

Back when Jacksonville dropped football, one of the things they mentioned was it wasn't getting cheaper to travel in the PFL. "It ain't ever getting cheaper to travel to San Diego." Widening the footprint in today's landscape shows you these fucktards are completely asleep at the wheel.

In my view the name of the MVFC should be changed back to the Gateway. They changed the name the year NDSU and SDSU were invited, and at the time I thought it might be the first step towards eventually integrating those schools into the Missouri Valley across the board. Clearly that has not been the case.

I also view this agreement as a direct result of the public schools allowing the private schools to walk all over them when it comes to realignment decisions. Three of the last four recent additions have been non-football schools, and getting Murray State into the league was like pulling teeth. Since we don't have enough football teams in the conference (MVC) we now have to depend on the Summit League schools for stability and an AQ. Our private school peers are certainly not going to do us any favors, and allow us to add a school to the MVC to help our football numbers any.
