Name of New Baseball Field

The new baseball field will be named "Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium". Rightfully so........... He was the only baseball coach we had for the last 76 years before Meggs.

The name sounds good to me. Just curious, but how was the baseball team during the brief stint that Wooden coached it?

Warn Field

I was at State when Bob King 1st brought in Warn, replacing then ISU Coach Jim Rendel (who taught my ISU "Coaching of Baseball" class, utilizing Walter Alston's "Coaching of Baseball" classic text).

At the time during the early 70's, ISU had no baseball field (practice or permanent) and took a bus DAILY to Valle Field, owned by the TH Babe Ruth Baseball League. I can still see Coach Rendel raking & grooming the pitcher's mound on the main diamond.

Yes, a few things changed after Coach Warn was hired, but we must NOT forget the efforts taken by his predecessors to plant and fertilize the seed.
