I actually met him in 1974 because we had a mutual friend in another child show "star" Peggy Rhoads (an ISU grad), who was more well known around here for her "Popeye and Peggy Show" and "Peggy and the Vantastics." Add Cowboy Bob to that list and "Janie" and I can tell you, that was a fun bunch to be around. Peggy was always fun but Cowboy Bob was funny as hell. Sammy was the quietest of the bunch but you could tell he loved children and was something special. He looked old when in makeup but quite normal without it. I understand the crowds were large the other day when the public was invited. RIP Sammy. You will be missed.

Whatever happened to "Cowboy Bob?" That guy was a riot...I heard they did sound effects for the show next door @ the Chopper House!:lol:

I am pretty sure he passed away in the past few years as well. His real love was flying. Not too many knew he had a plane and was an accomplished pilot (but it wasn't called the "Song Bird").
