Illinois State and Vanderbilt went into the 13th inning and Vandy won it 8-7. It is double elimination so the Redbirds are still in Louisville.

Kenny Long went 6.1 innings in relief. he was going to start a game this weekend, but he threw over 100 pitches in relief. Maines, the starter flamed out in the third...so ten innings of relief work for Illinois State. Vanderbilt, of course was just as bad. A starter not going deep and a lot of extra innings in the first game is a formula for disaster!

Louisville beat Vanderbilt 7-1 and Illinois State beat St. Louis 8-3 on Saturday. Illinois State's win was their first NCAA Tournament win since 1976! So, Illinois State plays Vanderbilt at Noon (ET) Sunday. If Illinois State wins that game, they play again at 4:00 against Louisville. If they win that game, they will have to play Louisville again on Monday evening at 6:00. Louisville is and will be heavily favored to win tomorrow afternoon and move on to the super-regionals. But, "it could happen" for Illinois State.

Illinois State should have beaten Vanderbilt yesterday, I watched that game while exercising & ILS blew it not once, but twice in extra innings.

Well, the MVC entry into the regional tournament (Illinois State) is done this afternoon after losing to Vanderbilt 10-4. They were down 5-4 going into the top of the ninth and then the wheels came off, as Vanderbilt got a home run, three doubles and a single, with an error thrown in, to blow the game wide open.

Vanderbilt will face Louisville as soon as the field is ready, which should be at about 4:30 (ET).

Can you believe......................Illinois State had seven (7) errors in that game?

Surprise...Vanderbilt beat Louisville 7-0 on Sunday afternoon...they plan AGAIN for the championship Monday evening.

Vandy's "small ball" put the dagger to 'em...in the 7th inning, they sacrificed a runner to 2b, then singled the go ahead run. Gotta give the Commodores a thumbs up for execution!

Tough pitching also stymied the Cards, as they had runners at the corners in 8th with their 3B stud Wunderlich at the plate (2/3 on the night)..zilch! Who would've thought the high-powered Card offense would only score two (2) runs in 19 innings!

LSU the defending champs were also stunned yesterday in the NCAA Regionals. Looks like we will have a new champion this year.
