You think the NCAA has not been happy with Indiana State University, Terre Haute, and the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course? Think again...

They have choosen Indiana State Univeristy to play host to the NCAA Championships for the 8th strait time in 2010. This is such an honor for the univeristy and the citry of Terre Haute, I hope everyone appriciates how special this really is.

Indiana State is not in the elite class of many things. But they truly do stand a level above the rest in hosting the NCAA Cross Country Championships at LaVern Gibson CC Course. What an honor... Congrats to everyone who has worked so hard to make this possible!

And if none of you post in response to this post it shows how truly ignorant you all are... Just throwing that out their...

Thanks bent! Sometimes this stuff on "Other Sports" never get's a look. I think if you were once a memeber of something called an "Other Sport" you could truely appriciate where I am comming from. And who knows you might have once participated in an "Other Sport".

I just need people to recognize how big of a deal this really is. I don't think it's understood... Sometimes you have to be blunt like that to make a point. It does not concern you because you read the post and responded. Thanks for that!

If you responded "Never - Don't Plan On It" may I ask you to please explain why? I would also like for you to tell me which sport at Indiana State it is you follow... Think of it as a poll with in a poll...

Why is it that you don't plan on attending the event. I am just curious as to why... Maybe it has to do with me being in the Marketing industry. And "I don't like to see guys in short shorts is not an acceptable answer"... ahah I'm serious!

I replied "never but would like to." I saw cross country events in high school and they didn't always strike me as that exciting. At such a high level I think it would be entertaining, but that perception might be why some said they don't plan to ever attend.

Yeah I see what you are saying. I also understand if people see the event and say hey that was not for me and it didn't do anything for me. My opinion is that if you see this event once you will be throughly impressed and want to see it again. It's as exciting of an atmosphere as you will see at any other National Title Game or anything like that. It's Cross Country's version of the NCAA Final Four or the BCS Title Game and it's in our own back yard. I can't understand why anyone would not want to see something like that. You don't have to be a runner or a fan of the sport to appreciate a NCAA National Championship event, it will give you a total new perception of Cross Country.

You can go to an every day hoe hum Cross Country meet anywhere in the country and you will not want to go back. I think if you go to the NCAA Championships at LaVern Gibson you will be impressed! I challenge anyone who has not seen it in person to take me off on that bet. If you go and don't like it - then I am sorry for sending you out of your way and wasting your time - you will never have to do something so painful again!

The last 3 or 4 years this has been broadcast LIVE on National TV. Youtube does a good job of taking these videos down one posted. However I have found some footage from 2005 when Fox covered it. Currently CBS Sports (CS TV) covers the NCAA Championships. They do an outstanding job! I don't have links to those videos sorry!

Something to understand - this event is better in person! But this gives you the idea of what you will see in person. Gibson is a very spectator friendly course, you might have to walk to a couple different locations to see some of the race. You can see how to watch a Cross Country race by watching the fans walk or run from spot to spot when the cameras pan out.

Enjoy!
