Selection Sunday:

Not the the NCAA has this LIVE on T.V or anything like that. But at 6:30 tonight the Indiana State mens Cross Country team will have a NCAA selection party at Beef O'Brady's. Feel free to come by and meet and great with the guys on the team. The NCAA D1 National Championship meet is a week from this Monday here in Terre Haute!

The Sycamores are on the bubble to make it and any support that can be shown to them good news or bad is greatly appreciated!

We do have Eric Schulz running though, so he'll carry the Sycamore colors around the course next Monday! Make All-American Schulz!!

Yeah CC I will have a shirt for you. I sold a shirt to President Bradley last night at the selection party! It was really nice of him and his wife to show up, the athletic department had a nice turnout as well.

Even though the Sycamores might have got slighted just a bit by the NCAA you really can't place to much blame. If Southern Illinois had got an at large bid then we would have had more of a beef. My guess is if the Sycamores had placed 3rd, one spot ahead of Ohio State then we would have got enough points to get a bid.

Another great year for the Sycamore Cross Country team - these guys continue to define and lead the way for success at Indiana State University. I can tell you this much, Sycamore Cross Country alums went to bed very happy with the performance of these guys had on Saturday afternoon! They made all of us proud to say we were and still are Sycamores:sycamores:

Breaking Down The NCAA D1 Regional Action

The Men
The NCAA division cross-country regionals were held last week and the amazing thing was the incredibly stupid system the NCAA uses to pick the teams that go to Nationals ended up working out very well in 2009. There were very few surprises, as 29 of the 30 nationally-ranked men's team advanced to the field of 31. #26 Butler missed out, as the only screwy thing really happened at the Midwest Regional. There, unranked Michigan State, which was a diastrous 8th in the Big 10 meet two weeks ago and was only ranked 10th in the region, shocked everyone and advanced automatically. So kudos to them and unranked Texas for making the big dance.

We'd also like to give out props to Indiana State. They Sycamores, who every year host NCAAs, were a surprise 4th in the Midwest. It's a shame they didn't get pushed into the big show by Butler, but congrats to them for the big upset. They came into the Great Lakes only ranked 8th in the region.
