Who to Watch:

Keep an eye on two Sycamores for sure on Saturday.

The first being SO, Jeremiah Vaughan. He seems to keep getting better as each meet goes by and this kid has a ton of gut and determination - very talented kid. If Scott Keeney thinks he's going to be strong the rest of the season then I would say that you better keep your eye on him.

Secondly Michael Disher, my former teamate and good friend is an absolute baller under the pressure. He loves running in big meets and I would suspect he will be at his best, coming of a rough preformance 2 weeks ago at Notre Dame - he will look to put that behind him in a big way on Saturday.

Front Runner:

I would suspect that Scott Keeney will lead the Sycamores again this week at Pre Nats - the Sycamroes look for him to produce in this kind of setting. If their is a Peyton Manning of this team it's Scott Keeney - he prepares better than anyone and he puts his team first. Him running well gives the rest of the team confidence that it needs, this is even more important when you have a young team like the Sycamores have.

The Sleeper:

Let's just say that the Sycamores know the LaVern Gibson cross country course very well. And this will be the X Factor for the them - they know what to expect and they should be ready to go! Let's hope the Sycamores take another step forward to an at large bid at Nationals - no better place to do it than here in Terre Haute!

Hope to see you all Saturday!

Morgan, do you know what type of shape the course is in after the rain this week or if there will be any more before the meet?

I think the rain is all done for the weekend - I was at the course last Saturday for the Rose Hulman meet and we had more rain last week than this past week. Considering how much rain we had last week the course was holding up very nicely.

The only thing they did different last week was not take any Gators down the front strait - because it was much more soggy than the rest of the course and coach didn't want to tear it up before Pre Nats.

I am sure things are a little wet on the front strait - but the back of the course is holding up well. If you remember how dry everything was for Indiana Intercollegiate? Well the course is in great shape now - looks like a golf course! lol

Check it out! Some 2008 Olympians will be in the Haute this weekend - running on the famed LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country course - if you have not seen this event you might want to consider making the short drive north east!

Most of the nations top teams will be at this meet: Take a look.

Quick Math

That is 144 total teams paying $350 a team and my friends the cross country program just generated 50 grand... Can you please build me a facility now! lol :sycamores:

Indiana State placed 19th in their race - they beat Michigan State which was important since they were ranked ahead of us in the Regional. Dayton was 19th in their race and it would appear that we will either be just behind them in the rankings or move past them.

Sycamores finishing order:

Vaughn: Ran a smart and agressive race - very impressive.
Keeney: Hung around and hung around - his best races are still ahead of him.
Shultz: So darn consistant.
Disher: Not his best race but he will be alright - he is very fit
Padget: Went out pretty hard - he kept fighting however
Ski
Betz

it's $300 a team, not $350

Florida isn't exactly in the region are they? Why does it matter; they are now 1-1 vs. Florida?

Yeah I am not so sure that would matter - esp. if Florida goes on to do well in their Regional (beat any ranked teams and get an at large bid) then it wont hurt the Sycamores at all. So it's really hard to say if loosing to Florida yesterday hurt or not...

Yesterday didn't make or break their season - more of the same. I think when your team walksaway from a meeting feelings as if you could have done better then it's a positive - It tells me that this team has yet to put all the pecies togeather...Hopefully they can do that soon.

it just would have been nice to beat Fla. twice, so if it came down to getting "pushed" in to the NCAA meet ISU could have been "pushed" in had Fla. done well in their regional meet.

That's one way you could look at it for sure - if they are both bubble teams and you can only take one (depending on how many have already been selected from each of these teams regions) they would more than likely take the team that preformed better at Pre Nats.

However this was the best finish for any Sycamore team at Pre Nats and we have been a bubble team in the past with less than impressive performances at the Pre Nats. This team has put it's self in position to make the National meet!

hey at least the men's CC team beat Illinois State this weekend, the FB and VB teams didn't have much success against the Redbirds sadly!
