Sounds good for the Bison! That will be a recruiting tool for the Bulldogs. Why can't we do something like this in Indy at Lucas Oil Stadium? Hey Ball State! I would think that any of the MVFC schools would like this. I could see 2 ISUs and a Ball State vs ??? making a good day in Indy. What do you guys think? There have been football games at Victory Field too. We need to do SOMETHING TO WAKE UP THE INDY MARKET! ISU/BsU would be the perfect game if it would work out. Finding another game to rwo to increase the gate might be tough.

You asked what do we think.....................pardon my sarcasm but just how many ISU folks would go to Indy; maybe 1/4 of the number that attend the games in Terre Haute and that ain't many? Now a basketball 4-some made up of the Sycamores, Valpo, Ball State & Butler would probably work but football..........NO!

You had me until Butler. Butler plays in the Crossroads classic with IU, PU, and ND. They have absolutely zero reason to do a foursome with any other teams.

Every year I get depressed thinking that there ISN'T an 8 team tournament held in indy for Indiana D1 teams. I know it would be nearly impossible to have because of scheduling (and the big boys wouldn't want to do it) but could you imagine having Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, Butler, Indiana State, Valpo, Ball State, and Evansville playing in a tournament together and having the final 4 held in Indy every year?!? You would stick Purdue & IU on opposite sides along with ISU & UE because of conference affiliations. Play the first round games at a on campus facility (along with the consolation games) and play the final four in Indy. That would truly be a tournament to spark "hoosier hysteria" back up in this state.

ISU and BSU have a lot of people in the Indianapolis area. I believe that game with another game would work. That other game could be UE, Butler or Valpo. I
would like to see it tried at least once. Personally, I would prefer an IS-BS game and UE-Valpo. Then make it IS-Valpo and BS-UE and then reverse it to IS-Valpo and UE-BS. Reverse match ups the next. Unless, UE and IS wanted to make the INdy game the MVFC game. SC says he is going to try to change things at ISU. This would certainly do that. By the way, IMHO a BS-IS game in Indy will draw better than that game on either campus. Anybody got a few extra thousand to make this happen?

I thought we were talking about a football game. I would like to see a double-header for both football and basketball with the Valley and MAC.

ISU vs BSU brought in 18-20K at the RCA Dome in the mid 1980's. It is all about marketing and promotion do a good job and they will come, throw up a flyer seven days before game day and they will go else where. Victory Field will hold 15K for football for a smaller venue. What do we have to lose to try something different?

Nothing and that was the one of the rumored matchups I was told they inquired about when they were kicking the tires are Victory Field. I think they should still try to do it, personally.

Or, if our fan base could look past it, they could schedule it against the University of Indianapolis there as I believe they're drawing well over 10k people to their home games so between the two, if marketed correct and not an arm and a leg, they could sell out. It would be more about the experience, should be an easy win, and the staff could use it to recruit by inviting damn near every D1 prospect in Indy to the game.

This actually seems like a pretty solid idea. especially if its a 12 game season and we have an extra spot for a home game.

and i thought it was a bad idea until you threw this out.

How much does it cost to play a game at Lucas Oil? How much do you have to pay for security, stadium staff, insurance, etc.? If you can't sell enough tickets to cover those costs, not to mention all of the costs that come with a regular game, it's going to be hard for ISU and another smaller school to make happen. Now Victory Field, or someplace smaller, maybe.

I think we were talking about Victory Field and not Lucas Oil.

NDSU is tapping into the Minneapolis market, will easily sell 40,000 seats for this.

Butler being the opponent is MEH.... but what the heck, it should be fun. (and it pisses off U of Minnesota)
