I drive by the new track at least once a week. They now have a sign posted on 1st street with a nice concept drawing of the facilities when finished.

And an eye sore in the icon building...

Million dollar track and an eye sore of a back drop makes no sense.

But yes, we finally do have a track. Now to tear down that building. Phase 3 I presume.

I sure hope so....that building should have come down a long time ago. Once again a half assed attempt by ISU. It doesn't even surprise me anymore though, which is pretty sad!

I have heard that they have no intent to take down the building. I sure hope that someone can prove me wrong!!!! with that being said does anyone have an idea what they plan on using the building for?

They are NOT going to renovate that building. I assure you that is not going to happen. It has been looked at and they can't afford to do anything with it.

Thats said, we don't have a demo company in town that will take that building down. Had they done it before the track it wouldn't have been too bad now where they going to put a crane with a large enough wreaking ball to do some damage?!?! The answer is they are not, they don't have a plan.

They are probably going to slap some paint on it, clean it up and say shhhhhh! I don't think they intend to take the building down nor do they intend to renovate it... It's going to sit vacant.

So EVERYONE that comes into town won't go man check out that awesome track or check out the view of the river they will go - now what is that building used for?

SSOM, unfortunately, you're right - this is probably Phase III, which in ISU-speak means never. Hell, I'll be surprised if there is ever anything more than a track and a few portable bleachers there. The concept drawing is beautiful, but the magnificent concrete grandstand and press box will never happen. It'll go down just like the "phases" have occurred for the baseball stadium. Which is to say, they're basically going to be forgotten about after the track itself is laid.

Man, I'd love to be wrong about this, but I know I'm not...
