They are going to be replacing the current rest area on I-70 as you enter Indiana from Illinois. It will have an Indy 500 exhibit with a race car and lots of truck parking. Looking forward to the Indy 500 exhibit.

Something tells me if it wasn’t going to have an Indy 500 exhibit or something you “like” you’d be bitching about how big of a waste of money it is…

I have used that rest stop multiple times on my 45 minute trip to TH because a day of drinking massive amounts Diet Coke wouldnt allow me the 4 more miles to town. It probably is a waste of money though except for the parking spaces. Unless all the semis go driverless in one afternoon, then you would need them.

Definitely need the extra truck spots. The rest of it probably is a waste of money. The key difference is that I don't have to pay extra at a Terre Haute McDonald's to help subsidize the local millionaire.

Oh yeah I almost forgot anything he is involved in is way bad for Terre Haute…

Like the 1,000’s of firefighters in town all week for the state wide firefighters convention. Golf outing at Hulman Links yesterday. Hotels are full. Convention center full. Wabash closed all day and night for a concert downtown on a Wednesday. Terminal, Copper and every other place downtown busy.

All made possible by one of our local millionaires. “The local millionaire” implies we only have one local millionaire which is obviously not the case - he’s just the one with the most and happens to be the most active contributor to the local economy… Which is some how bad?

He also is revitalizing the old Hulman & Company building with office space, a new cafe opening soon etc. Maybe with the Hulman/500 family connection you can get behind the history of it all! 😂

Greg Gibson is a treasure to Terre Haute. How many others have made a fortune, left Terre Haute, never to be heard from again. At least Greg tries to help grow his hometown. If he makes money on that, good for him.

Without him, Terre Haute is a ghost town.

I thought I would resurrect this by talking about a movie I saw a couple nights ago on prime. It was a 2011 movie called take me home. This woman with marriage problems gets this guy with a taxi cab to take her from new York to California to go to her dad's funeral. Anyway, they are driving west on I 70 thru St Louis. A little while later after trying to ditch the woman he changes his mind and goes back to get her. He exits I 70 in Indiana at the US 41 exit in Terre Haute. I know they screwed this up since they were supposed to be west of st Louis but I rewound the movie just to get a look again. Yes it was Terre Haute.

Good catch. Also might be time to splurge and get that HULU or Max subscription.
