Maybe they'll talk to the Pacific West Conference about buying the "PacWest" name.

So does this bump Mountain West up to Power 5, or are the Big 10/12/ACC/SEC now the Power 4?

Nope, MW jumps up to #5 (for football) but they will no doubt be locked out of things exclusive to the now P4. When it comes to hoops, they'll still be #6 because the MW has been performing better than the PAC-12 in recent years and they're getting two of their bottom programs -- not enough firepower to jump the Big East.

This one is a bit bigger than just dumping it into the ACH thread. Really thought the MW would end up just taking the PAC moniker but apparently it is going the other way.

Three things to keep in mind:

1) The Pac 12 legally will still be a conference for the next two years through the 2025-26 season. WOSU will continue to collect assets during this time period.

2) The MWC's current TV contract with CBS and FOX expires at the end of the 2025-26 season.

3) The biggest question. Does a Pac 14 reverse merger keep its autonomous status? If not, then a reverse merger doesn't really make any sense.
