Gave up half of their draft for a guy with 13 career starts. Typical Bears. If they miss on this pick, it will be another several years in the dumpster. Awesome.

And with that, I turned the draft off. Good luck to you Colts fans. Heard your GM on the radio today and really liked him and what he had to say.

Lol he better be a 4-5 time pro bowler and keep them in contention for super bowls over the next 10 years. Bears must know something the rest of us don't!

John Lynch is a quick learner. He completely played the Bears.
Well, with the run of QBs after, we'll see in about 4 years. I'm hoping Pace knew something the rest of us didn't but the fact they had little contact with the kid outside of one workout around his pro day makes me nervous.

Sooo.... you're wishing the Bears would have kept the franchise leader (in QB stats)?

No, getting out from under Cutler's deal was the right move considering his performance and he was becoming injury prone. They did sign Glennon and it's only a 2 year deal so I would have preferred to see what we had with him as opposed to taking Trubisky because I wasn't 100% sold on any of the QBs in this draft.

I did like Watson the best... feels a lot like Russel Wilson to me. But who knows. QBs always are the biggest crap shoots of them all it feels like.

My Bears just traded up. WTF?

Gave up 3rd and 4th and 2018 3rd round pick to move up for one fucking slot.
I was listening on the radio as i drove home last night. when the Bears traded up (but before their pick), I swore I heard you cry out in anger from a few miles away.

I had a Bears fan tell me several years ago that all of the 'hate' for cutler in chicago was more for his GF/Wife than he... and that Bears fans didn't love/appreciate mcmahon until he was retired and predicted the same for cutler...

who knows, i never believed everything i heard about cutler...

nabbing glennon was a better move than moving up for terbiscky... watson would have been a better pick, if for no other reason(s) he had far more experience and he the two times he played the "best team"... he had great games.

agree on qbs and crap-shoots; especially in today's college to nfl game; some college qbs haven't taken a snap under center in years

this was a shallow year for qbs and i'm positive that the browns and jets haven't made the best choice for qb... because that's their franchise standard

Does experience really matter? I believe Wentz only started games his junior year (15?) and of the National Championship his senior year. He was drafted number 2 overall. My only problem with the Bears pick was they could have had him at 3 and not given away the farm to trade up one spot.

As with all things...if he wins all will be forgotten/foregiven. Winning cures ALL problems and that really is all people care about.

I think we need to pump the breaks on Wentz. I need to get 3-4 more years down the road before I anoint him as a great draft pick. He had the 26th best QBR with 16 TDs and 14 picks. Jury is still out on him but overall, I do agree with you that experience doesn't matter IF the player has all of the other tangible and intangibles to be a great QB. Wentz does seem to have those, no argument from me there.

Don't like his lack of experience nor does he have an elite arm but he does pretty much everything else really well. I also like that he is from Ohio... QBs from there seem to manage pretty damn good in the NFL. What will likely make or break this kid is how consistent Pace can get the line over the next 2 years and if they can actually put some weapons in place for him when he finally gets his shot. There isn't one receiver or tight end on the roster that excites me.

I think the biggest thing isn't the selection of the kid, it's just giving up the farm to get him when you have so many needs. Bears really need another really bad season where they can get another top pick to either get an elite gamebreaker or get these picks (and possibly more) back. Next years mocks already have 3 QBs in the top 10 and I believe going 1-2.

What concerned me about the trade is giving up the later picks. In the past the Bears have made good moves in the latter rounds they have found a few diamonds in the rough. Its the first round picks the Bears swing and miss on.

Why is that some teams always seem to pick good at some positions and terrible at others. Example: Green Bay has had great success at QB drafting. The Bears over the years have done well on defense and in particular Middle Linebacker. Funny how that goes. Other than JM what other successful QB have the Bears drafted in modern times?

Totally agree. Angelo used to be a master at that, especially those 3rd and 4th rounders. As for drafting a QB, this is the first the Bears have gone "all in" drafting a QB, the highest pick ever used on one. I think they have to try to move out of their 2nd round pick if they can move down 10-15 spots and make back a 3rd rounder. I think the Broncos and Ravens could be two good partners to get that done. If the Steelers coveted someone, I believe they have two late 3rd rounders... anything to get more bodies in Halas.

Guess it could always be worse. The Texas thought Brock Osweiler was so bad that they traded Osweiler, a 2nd rd pick, and two firsts to upgrade to Deshaun Watson.

The Packers have drafted Rogers in recent years. Who else? They got Favre in a trade....

Bart Star
Mark Brunell
Matt Hasselbeck
Aaron Rodgers

My mistake on Farve you are correct they got him from Atlanta. I thought for some reason they drafted him.

Looks like I was spot on with trading down to recoup picks. The Arizona Cardinals moved up to Chicago’s previous No. 36 slot to get Washington safety Budda Baker and in the process gave up their second-round pick (No. 45), their fourth-rounder this year (No. 119), their sixth-rounder this year (No. 197), and Arizona’s 2018 fourth-rounder.
Bears now have the following remaining:

4th Round - 4th pick, 117th overall (from Buffalo)
4th Round - 12th pick, 119th overall (from Arizona)
5th Round - 3rd pick, 147th overall
6th Round - 13th pick, 197th overall (from Arizona)
7th Round - 3rd pick, 221st overall

With their 2nd round pick, they took a 6'7", 280 pound TE with 4.7 speed out of Ashland College. Looks like Pace is going boom or bust in this draft.
