Advise to b.scott and a.etherington. Let this fuel you into your summer workouts! Would of been nice to see one of them make it but these are still high quality recruits.

Brenton Scott, Fort Wayne Northrop: Because of his twin brother Bryson making the team, it was probably going to be difficult for Brenton to make it as well. But the Indiana State recruit has tremendous credentials. He is the second all-time leading scorer at Northrop behind his brother, with 1,537 points and holds the all-time 3-point record with 219. His efficiency improved every year and he averaged 19.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 steals as a senior.

I've pretty much said it before, but I was at the top 60 and Brenton might be the best pg in the state. I know they use votes and state champs have an advantage but putting Volovic on there is a joke.

Michael Volovic has led his team to 2 consecutive 4A State Championships, has hit multiple game winners and defends better than any PG in the State. He may not be the best college prosepect, but he's the best HS PG in the State. This is an honor based on your HS career, not your college potential. Calling his selection a joke is uneducated and just plain ignorant. Just look at the Teams and Players his Carmel team has defeated in their tournament runs as well as the regular season. Stats don't tell the whole story on Volovic. He controlled the game and tempo as well or better than any HS kid I've ever seen

Inclusion doesn't make a player GREAT

Omission doesn't make a player LACKING

Though if Breton was deserving, Bryson's inclusion shouldn't have been a factor.

There have been several sets of brothers on the team in the past

I agree. I'm not even saying Brenton wasn't deserving. He's a great player. It's just how it goes in Indiana. A lot of great players and only 13 spots. I was just pointing out that Michael Volovic's selection was not a joke and he's as deserving as anybody.

I've seen him play several times and I've watched all-stars for 45 years. He is not an all-star. I appreciate that he is a good hs guard, but the state is loaded with them.

I'd disagree. He is an Indiana All-Star, since he was named an Indiana All-Star today. How many of the other guards the state is loaded with this year led their team to back to back 4A State Championships? Gary Harris (HSE), Zak Irvin(HSE), Jacoby Bledsoe (HSE), Ronnie Johnson (NC), Patrick Ingram (NC), Darius Latham (NC), Jaylon Brown (Fishers) are all D-1 players that couldnt beat Volovic the past 2 years, and those are only sectional opponents. Volovic's team went 48-6 past 2 years, and 13-1 in MIC play which is one of best public school HS leagues in the country. Carmel and Volovic beat all these teams the past 2 years w/out a scholarship D-1 player. Don't let the eye test fool you, He's one of the best Indiana has to offer

I guess you are saying that Carmel had a good team? I can't argue with that.

Walking on at Butler I do believe, or were you being facetious? Sorry, I can never tell on here anymore.

By the way, serious question, didn't Bryson skip the top 60 workout? And isn't that supposed to be used in helping to select the all star team? I know its not the only factor, but find it interesting that kids can skip it and still make the team. Kind of makes you wonder why anyone bothers participating in it.

It's not an official tryout. It also is an opportunity to play in front of a lot of small college and juco coaches.

Agreed. This kid might not look like a player, but he is. Epitomizes being a leader on the floor; gives it his all every time I've seen him play; refuses to lose; and like Prairie said his two state championships in 4A with no scholarship D1 players proves this. Loved watching this kid do work in the state championship game this year.

That's the best you got? Putting him on the all-star team makes it a travesty.

If he had played for South Putnam, nobody would have ever heard of him.

That's why KY started having tryouts -- to keep this kind of garbage from happening.

If he'd played for South Putnam, They would have been an elite team and everyone on that team would have been better offensively and defensively. Carmel was the best team for 2 years. Best players on the best teams make all star teams. You know why? Because they're winners. Plain and Simple. Head Coaches in the MIC only voted him Player of the Year in the Conference. I guess they dont know anything though
