Excited to see the Trees lose to a 2-9 NIU team?

The Panthers have ONLY beaten two Pioneer Football League teams... well, those two had Indiana State (again) -- which will be the Panthers ONLY Conf Win this season...

What in the hell is exciting about that scenario???
Sorry ... not sorry ...... R.I.P ISU Football ... another lousy season no matter how you spin it ..... get out the shovels. UNI gets their only conference win & Elijah Owens most likely will play for $$$ somewhere else next season. Let's go basketball (men) & baseball!

You two should apply to be the DNC mascot. Even if I don't follow a sport, I would never be happy when my university sports teams suffer a loss.

Mallory is now 24-55 in his ISU career -- stands next to Tim McGuire 24-55 on the ISU Coaching Wins scrolls...

I'll speak as an actual ISU football fan. Overall I am happy with the progress that was made this season. I at least feel like the program is moving in a positive direction again and that we have something to work with going into the off-season. We got 4 wins, lost 4 games by a possession or less, and lost 2 somewhat competitive games. The Purdue and South Dakota games were the only two where we were just not even competitive at all.

I was able to attend 7 of our 12 games this season, which happens to include all of the games that we won. The big comeback against SIU and the 98 yard 9+ minute drive in that game was probably the highlight of the season for me personally. It's a lot better than where we've been at the past few seasons. I'm glad as the season went on we started to open up the playbook more. Can't wait for next season and hopefully I'll be able to make it out to the Spring Game!

Obviously I'd like to be at a point again where winning seasons and being in contention for a playoff spot are the expectation, but no one thought that going into the season. Next season our schedule is extremely difficult. I wouldn't doubt it's the toughest schedule in all of FCS with Montana, IU, and four straight games against the Dakota schools.

I agree! We have a bright future next year if we can keep all the guys together. I worry about Owens getting poached.

Mallory finally realizes that spreading the ball around with the talent we have is the only way to be successful. I hope he continues with this play calling, because he really wants to be at ISU, and likes living in The Haute.

Making progress.

I agree!! He fired his offensive staff yesterday!!!!

Coming from a waaaaaaaaaaaay outside perspective, it really seems to me that the only reason we improved this season was because we had a pretty decent QB. At our level, it seems like if you have a good QB, you have a shot to be decent. Owens way outperformed expectations this season. Bad part of that is that he will most likely be playing elsewhere next season. And Mallory's track record with QB's isn't great.

I have my feelings from a "business" perspective on football, but I also don't like to see ISU lose, so this season wasn't quite as horrifying as seasons past. Can they continue the upward trajectory? Only time will tell. If we're going to keep up this charade of being a D-I football school, it would be preferable to be one that wins.

agree on your points; what is very frustrating to watch is the 'pro ISU MUST HAVE FOOTBALL camp' not realizing / admitting the college landscape has changed and changed DRAMATICALLY. The ability (i.e. outside funds) that made it possible for ISU to 'afford' football have changed and will continue to change and NOT in a positive manner for Mid-Majors.

ISU needs to accept that reality and plan well for the future.

Even if Owens returns, keep in mind…we did not play NDSU or SDSU this season (we do in 2025). Also, we had a no conference home game this season against lowly Houston Christian and lost. Next season, we replaced that HCU game with a road matchup AT Montana (big time FCS program).

To put it short, with Owens, we’re probably looking at best case another 4-win season.
Without Owens, well, probably 1 or 2 wins.
