Google the Wildcats' new stadium. It's stunning, and mainly being financed by the Ryan family. It will be 6,000 seats smaller and built on the footprint of the current stadium. Not sure where they will play during construction.

Soldier Field probably.

It will actually seat 12,000 LESS than their current arrangement bringing capacity to 35,000. Honestly, this is real good idea for a school like Northwestern. You don't have a giant fanbase but you do have a small fraternal like following with some deep pockets. Make going to the games more exclusive, serve top end food, with top shelf liquor. Attract all those doctors and lawyer with NW degrees and get them through the gate. Then make it one hell of an experience with great acoustics, sight lines, video boards. Being in Chicago you could pump out concerts and other events every weekend if you wanted to. Will be interesting if this will elevate the program to a consistent b10 contender.

The university just completed a $6.1 Billion fund raiser. In addition, the Ryan family donated $680m in that campaign. The current stadium will be torn down after the 2023 season and the new one will be ready for 2025. They are looking for temporary homes

Soldier Field grass surface is a mess. It has to be completely repaired or re done if the Wildcats play on Saturday followed by a Bears game on Sunday. Not sure if Wrigley is a good alternative. I would hate to see its pristine grass surface destroyed by 8 or 9 home football games.

I really like that they was realistic and "downgraded" seating capacity. Stadium looks amazing, between that and their football practice facility they have top notch stuff at a lower scale than the "big boys".
