Doesn't look like it will be enough to keep him out of the game on Tuesday, but it might be enough to limit his ability to create/score as it did on Saturday. It is a calf injury - as I understand it.

Obviously that type of injury can be extremely difficult to heal - especially when you are on your feet going to and from classes and things of this nature. Usually the only thing that can heal a calf injury is, ice and rest - obviously you can try and heat the injury or keep it lose like they did the other day but he still had a noticeable limp.

Odum is the type of kid who will play through an injury - I watched him do it in high school and I watched him do it Saturday afternoon. I expect that this is a semi-serious injury that will linger from here on out (strictly a guess), I don't expect him to sit out at this point in the season though. I'd consider him probably for tomorrow - let's just hope he's moving around better than he was on Saturday. Brad is a good trainer and I am sure he is doing everything possible to get him ready to go!

Should we sit him and rest him for the tournament? I'd rather have him 100 percent for the post-season.

Even if he's only 80%...he has to go. There's no point in holding him back now unless the injury can lead to something more serious. If it's just one of those injuries that's going to hurt a lot but won't cause any serious structural damage, he has to play. With only three more guaranteed games this season, we need Jake in all of them.

I don't think it something that can get "more serious" it's just pain that you either have a high enough tolerance to deal with or you don't. It's a muscle strain and not much you can really do about it.

They are playing to firm up how they will finish the MVC season, I'd say that it's a very important game as far as post season is concerned. Especially when you can't really put a time table on this type of injury healing. I mean he could be in the same amount of pain in 2 weeks regardless of if he plays or not. I'd "guess" it's a 3 to 4 week injury for it to completely heal - some people heal faster than others.

He's going to play regardless of what might be best long term, that's just who he is.

If we lock up the 3 seed vs. UNI, I'd sit him on Senior Day even if the injury couldn't get worse by playing.

Pardon my laziness for not looking this up myself, but do we lock up the 3 seed with a win at Northern Iowa regardless of what we do in our last game against SIU?

If we are the 3-seed no matter what we do against SIU, you have to seriously consider sitting Odum for that game.

I would think it would lock it up - we would be up 1 in the win column and we will have secured the 3 seed via the tie breaker by beating UNI twice. Make since? I'm not positive but it did to me.

Great question Dave - I'd feel much better about tomorrow if we had Jake Kelly back and healthy (as much as possible) especially with Odum hurting. Odum will play - but he didn't look good the other day as a result of the injury.

Have not looked it up either but is Creighton not lurking just a game back of us ? I know we split with them this year but is it possible we could drop to 5th ?
