My off-season thought of the moment, is it possible North Dakota State could move on to some Dakota 7 conference or something? They could call it the Big Frack.

not MVFC news, but Georgia Southern and App. State will announce their move to the Sunbelt conference Wednesday, so this opens 2 more spots for the I-AA playoffs for ISU.

Those moves make this season even more exciting--at the same time we must understand that we will be looking to use new offenses and defenses. With the good attitude and enthusiasm of this team, from what we hear, those 2 slots may be very meaningful.

Interesting; Appy State was hesitant due to $$$, wonder where Ga Southern thinks they'll find the money
I think they're both stupid for doing it. I was saying this is nice for us. I just don't understand anyone wanting to move up in this climate.

Yep, we're tracking on the same idea. I remember an article wrt Appy State and the MT Grizz... both essentially said that they had zero interest in moving up as they were successful, 'profitable' and (if I remember correctly) couldn't justify the additional cost w/out a commiserate return. It was around the time UMass announced they were moving up; the Appy State AD said that he wasnt' getting a 'sweetheart' deal from the Carolina Panthers in the manner that the NE :censored:s were giving to UMass.

They're both nuts BUT it'll help our chances.

We have talked about this before but there are some SERIOUS issues that will affect the FCS (1AA) in the NEAR future and that is the looming break off of the BCS power conferences, possibly even leaving the NCAA as well as the "trend" for the BCS conferences to not allow FSC teams on the schedule as the Big 10 is alleged to be doing. From a monetary standpoint if you crystal ball what Appy State and Georgia Southern are doing, it could potentially make sense. Programs like ours that will lose $300-700,000 a season in NOT being able to play those money games, may be in for some serious tight financial times, they knew it was coming and jumped up when they saw it coming.

I know NDSU is keeping a close eye on what is going on, especially with all the conference shifting elsewhere.
