If a place where Nebraska is saying it is about money when they get GIGANTIC BTN paydays on top of all of their other revenue streams, no chance in hell we can afford it.

You mean the same Nebraska and Wisconsin that play in the Big Ten can't afford to give out an extra year of scholarships for Spring sports? Aren't these the same P5 type of schools that would love to pay players? Or maybe they wanted Adidas and Nike to pay their salaries with the shoe money? Not sure I'm buying their sad stories. Maybe don't pay your coaches millions of dollars every year if you can't afford some scholarships.

As far as ISU goes we are still giving out the same amount of scholarships just some players will have to transfer or get cut. If we can't afford it then maybe we shouldn't be Division 1 anymore. Hate to say it. I actually fail to see how it is costing us anything extra. It's just giving those players an extra year of eligibility whether they play here or elsewhere. Still the same amount of scholarships unless they increased it temporarily, but I haven't heard anything about that if they have.

Of course ISU can't afford this "plan," especially now that you've "stopped" donating your incredibly minuscule contributions

what an attitude Dude ......... do you hate the whole world or just hate me and LOVE LANSING?

If anything, this issue highlights the tight "profit" margins that most Div I programs walk; there are roughly a dozen P5 programs that truly run a profit and don't dip into the student population to show a profit; I don't believe Neb & Wisc are in that dozen

# of scholies vs. # of athletes on roster vary from team to team, season to season but how many walk-ons are we anticipating if all of the 2020 Srs return for their 5th (COVID) season of eligibility?

Actually, Nebraska shows up in the no subsidy group and showed about a $7m profit per the USA Finances DB. The only schools that don't show any "allocated" money is Cal, Purdue, Arkansas, Kentucky, South Carolina, LSU, Penn State, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Texas and Nebraska. Wisconsin shows just under a 2% subsidy -- $3m. Outside of those 12 schools, everyone else has to go to the subsidy pool to break even.

Both of those schools can go fuck themselves. Like I said, they get HUGE checks from the BTN that are guaranteed as long as they remain on the basic cable tiers they lobbied for. Both schools raked in over $80m in rights and licensing.

Probably just get tired of people who want things (ISU to buy out a contract for instance) but don't want to have to put any of their own skin in the game. It's a symptom of our society at large, gimme gimme gimme but don't make me have to personally sacrifice to achieve it. Most would rather just piss and moan, Monday morning QB everything than actually step up and work to make their desire happen.

It's why no one on this board takes you seriously. You say you want Lansing gone in the worst way, but when given options about how you could help the school move towards accomplishing a goal you say is of great importance to you, all of a sudden excuses and platitudes come forward with no real, concrete steps being taken that would prove you really want this to happen (beyond lip service). It's called put up or shut up. You've done neither.

And this guy asking the question of I assume we cannot afford this either much like those of the P5 schools has anything to do with his desire to see a change in the leadership of the basketball program . Come on This guy is attacking people that has no contact with him what so ever and you wonder why he chooses to doubt if Indiana State can afford this .

Thanks -- I didn't look for that list; I've come across it in the past; shouldn't be surprised that NEB is on the list; are they still paying out former fball HC contracts?

I am surprised by Cal and Purdue, Cal likely has stupid $$ but it seems their "revenue sports" ebb and flow. Thinking Purdue is on the list because they have the fewest sports in their conference

I've no pity wrt $$ and today's "power 5" schools; none have the $$ issues that the "2nd tier," the true mid-majors have

Wonder how many revenue models the NCAA is running for a condensed 2020 football season?

I didn't give him the contract only an ignorant fool would agree to and I will not spend a dollar to help them out of it. Prettyman & his ex put the contract together but even Clink let it ride on automatic a time or two before he caught on to what was happening. It is his job now & Clink needs to man up and close it out.

I think at ISU, many fans need to realize that getting an extra year of eligibility is usually meaningless. These kids aren't still holding out for a chance at going pro and you can't expect them - with their degree completed and no school left - to hang around Terre Haute another year just for one more season. We also don't have some booster covering their expenses off the books. At our level, it just doesn't matter. Five years and most are gonna be done regardless of how much eligibility the NCAA gives them.

I agree that many will move on, take their degree and start the next chapter in their life. I could see those that want to get into coaching or really, really love the sport coming back, but I think a great many will move on.

Right, so you have proven my point. Thank you.
