We bitch and complain about coaches leaving their teams high and dry to move on ( Kmac) etc. but yet is this not the same ?

coaches are going to have to come from somewhere....

the timing is the question.....but where ever you go to get an assistant coach at a late date....it's going to be the same problem....a&m got troy walters...isu got steve englehart...rose-hulman promoted jayson martin.....it's like dominoes falling....lol.....

i well remember people griping about bill hodges...not filling his vacant assistant coaching position...back in the 1978-79 season.....when stan evans quit late..right before the year started....and bill never replaced him.....and he went the full season under staffed....

so you are damned if you do...and damned if you don't.....lol.....
 
I was about to say...we have to do it because if we dont we are screwed....so damn the coaches for accepting other jobs late in the system....
 
I understand the reason why we went there but If i was a rose fan I would be so pissed at losing our head coach this close to the season

was there money in the budget to hire an additional assistant?

landini and cook should have tapped evans as the 'interim'... they'd still have finished at 33-1, maybe 34-0
 
they went with hodges...because that was the game plan that landini and bob king....

had...king was the guy who wanted hodges to replace him...should his health ever be a problem.....bob told me that himself.....when he came back for a reunion at hulman center......he thought that, personality-wise, he would rather have hodges running the show.....of course, bob thought that he would be back eventually as the head coach...but that didnt happen.....

OK -- I've just read that King hired Evans to be his replacement -- that THAT was the plan until Bird enrolled -- then King told Evans he could still replace him but only AFTER Bird graduated!

So, once King's stroke occured; it was only natural for Evans to think he'd get the nod and when he didn't... c'est la vie
