IMHO, the BEST pizza was FAMOSO'S...16" 2 Item and 2 QTS for 4.oo...16" 2 item w/2 qts of soda...they shut down in '85.

Pizza S%!tty at times was like someone laid out a loaf of bread and melted a block of govt. cheese on top. Hunter John's pizza, at times, you could drink with a straw...we called it "the evacuator"...good for following up the Pizza S%itty, muselage glue pizza. I left part of my soul in the 4th floor stalls of Rhoads Hall after a Hunter Johns pizza.

Famosos used 3" dia pepperoni... and they were New York style pizza. Their delivery guy helped in the press box at Hulman...used to give us a copy of the halftime b-ball stats as he took copies down to the scorers table. We ordered pizza 5-6 times a week because the dorm food in Rhoads was AWFUL...I went from like an 18 meal per week meal plan my freshman year to a 5 meal per week my soph and JR years, and besides brunch on Sunday mostly used my other weekly plans to fill a "moose" cup up with soda to start the day.

Moose Cup! another blast from the past. Hardees made more off those plastic cups than they did their food in Terre Haute! LOL! We called them Friday Night Specials cause you bought one every Friday to use at parties that night! Famoso's was gone by the time i got there in 87. My last year there was first half year for the commons so i was out of meal credits mid semester using them at the food court.

Serious when I say this....Good for you!!! The food court was a huge improvement...you weren't subjected to casseroles with names like "Johnny Marzetti"...WTF was IN that stuff? The infamous "patty melt" that I actually used one of the toast slices to break a glass by tapping it, or the "Swiss Burger" that was so cold it had congealed white grease on it when I took the bun off. I wrote a note on that one (uneaten, of course)...on a napkin decorated like a pirate flag that said, Just KILL me", stabbed the sandwich with it and sent it thru the dishwasher line.

Favorite meal was Sunday brunch...a plate of semi-runny scrambled eggs and a plate of cream corn...livin' the dream, baby!!

Been there done that and got the scars from Rhodes-Mills cafeteria my freshman year. Did one year of time in a room on the 10th floor Rhodes overlooking the beautiful tennis courts. No A/C in the fall and summer and hot as hell heater in the winter, then moved to the life of of air conditioned luxury- Lincoln Quad!

Our Junior year, we got a triple on the 8th Floor (#821 I think)...yeah, no AC was BRUTAL...at least with the radiant oven you could open the windows for balance. Our Senior year, we moved to a house divided into apartments on Center Street...never appreciated AC more!!!

I must be too young for Hunter John's. I haven't had Pizza City since middle school when they had one next to the Boy's Club. I thought they were all gone honestly, but according to Google Maps there's still one on Walnut Street by the train tracks. I might have to try it again sometime to see if it's any good.

Here's their menu: https://pizzacityterrehaute.com/29356

Hunter Johns was way better than pizza city although I did enjoy PC a few years ago. They had live music in the place occasionally.

You guys are old. Next thing you'll be talking about is eating at Bonanza and getting stopped by a train on North 3rd Street. I'm trying to remember where HJs was. I want to say it was in that same mysterious drawn blinds building as Great Wall across from the courthouse. Never ate there, but had Pizza City pepperolis often.

Yep, that is where it was.

With that said, mentioning obscure pizza places, I greatly preferred "A Ring Brings" Pizza in 12 Points. It was actually very solid the times I had it.

I think they are the ones that shut Dominos down for a week like my junior year. Dominos ran a promo if you presented 10 competitors coupons they would give you a free small pizza. the next day A Ring bought the back page of the Statesman wrote “We love to help our competitors give pizza away” and had 10 coupons below it. Dominos was flooded with calls and retracted it and closed for a week.
