Anybody know if we are still practicing, or have decided whether or not to do a CIT or CBI kind of a junior varsity tourney? I read that Laravia said he likely wouldn't play if we did due to his back. I know the final coaches radio show is tonight, so maybe that topic will come up then. I can't listen, but hopefully someone does.

Golden's ArchMadness column made a side reference to the CiT, apparently the "goofy formatted 3-game final" CBI is too "expensive" for State

any game in the CBI or CiT will be a road game; sounds like Hulman is closed until graduation; team, school should accept either -- the returning players need the "tourney atmosphere experience"

Agreed. First, you let the guys coming back potentially get that tournament loss out of their mouth. Second, if you get a better opponent, you get them game experience against superior talent. Either situation is a plus overall no matter what some of you around here believe. Lastly, turning down postseason play speaks to recruits. Not something we have the luxury to do.

Lansing onTV this evening saying he would like to play if possible. It has to be road game because of construction.

ISU athletic leadership is usually consistent in making the wrong call. An absolute travesty if they pay $$$ to let this team play in a "Loser's Tournament" and then try to solicit funds for the department or whatever. Here is Lansing's track record back six years including this last annihilation at the hands of Missouri State 51-78, 2019 55-77 VALPO, 2018 70-77 Illinos State, 2017 72-83 Evansville, 2016 42-68 Evansville, and who can forget 2015 53-81 Loyola. He doesn't deserve to coach another game "to make him feel good".

And don't forget there are three departing seniors and one injured key frosh that are all integral parts of the team ...... why play on & risk further injury to Laravia and the seniors had their chance in St. Louis and never won a game there in there career. Pack up and go home.

Announced on radio program that there will be no post season games. They’re done for the year.

announced by whom? ISU AD? Lansing?

if they had the chance and turned it down -- a pox upon them.

and if the 3 SRs DIDN'T want to play? A pox upon them as well.

Laravia shouldn't play, his back, his future to the Trees is too important

BAD DECISION IF they had the choice and opted out.

I think that was a forgone conclusion by Clinkscales "No Comment" to Todd Golden when he asked about post season after the last debacle of a game in St. Louis.

Again, a poor decision -- the team needs the experience, the school, program can ALWAYS use the exposure.

you'd expect Clinkscales to understand that, given where he works but as he played and worked in the "power 5" until he arrived, it's obvious he doesn't

GL reiterated on the radio show that he wanted to keep playing, but the administration decided it best to be done and get ready for next year.

We need to play in the CIT. It would be a good experience for our players to learn how to play in post season games. Not sure how you spend a couple million on basketball and won't spend a little more to play in the postseason. Makes no sense to me.

Sounds like a message that Clink has seen enough. This team pissed away a great chance at an NCAA tourney berth. They don't deserve to keep playing after what I saw in STL.

Bullshit. This was still an 18 win team that finished 3rd in the conference.

I have zero confidence in our athletics department moving forward with decisions like this and the logo change. Clink just told prospective recruits that we're a two bit organization and to pick a different program if they want to play in the postseason after a successful season. Congrats AD!

They played 30 games how much more experience will 1 game give them . Shut it down

What is the Post season record in these tournaments ? We need more experience on how to lose ? Of course GL wants to play in these so he can boast we were in a post season tournament?

I know, right? Giving the seniors one more moment to shine while giving the underclassman tournament experience against a quality opponent on national tv....all the while not costing the department much of anything except the entry fee since Lansing conceded it would be an away game within bus distance.

What a horrible idea.

My thoughts exactly. What makes ANYONE think these guys would compete in a phony post season tournament when they didn't even compete when they had the chance to win a conference tournament championship. Sherard has grown tired of Lansing's BS year after year.
