thinks to mull over

People underestimate the changes in the media due to the Internet WRT newsprint... Newprint/Media mergers also affect today's markets...

IMO the BIGGEST change WRT the IndyStar was the Pulliam clan selling to Gannett.

Gannett restructred (fired all of the reporters) and you have what you have today. Garbage.

I also think a fundamental change for us WRT Indianapolis, was IUPUI.
Look at the enrollment numbers from the 1950s - 1960s; growth, growth and growth.

We'd "lost" ISU-M in 1961 when they received their own trustees; we're
"forced" to start ISU-E; IUPUI and IPFW both 'start' in 1969 and 1964 respectively.

TJ

Totally missed my point about the Raetz years -- I wasn't saying the Indy media might have been frustrated with him at all, but perhaps their dealings with other folks in the athletic dept and administration might have left a bad taste in their mouths about ISU in general.
If things were truly as bad within ISU as many on this site have said, I was merely suggesting that might have provided some of the roots of our frustration with Indy media.
Not defending them at all -- its pure BS with the technology and the stuff ISU sends them apparently these days.
