I met him several times, and from the first time we met, he never forgot my name.....he's very friendly, affable and outgoing....just don't let him go crazy awarding lengthy Head Coaching contracts.

He'll be forever remembered @ ISU as the person who planted the seed(s) for one of the worst era's in ISU sports (although Baseball has remained relatively stable). For an in-depth understanding, view the dialogue on this Forum. Ya, he's a good PR man, but he faded fast in Terre Haute.

Geographically, he'll fit your school well given his prior years in San Luis Obispo, CA. With his kid now an Asst. Baseball Coach to a long-term friend, Lindsay Meggs @ Washington, he'll be within reach of family. Meggs was one of Prettyman's 1st coaching hires in '06 after he assumed the A.D. position @ ISU.

If he gets the job, I'd expect him to last two years and retire. Still makes no sense why he quit the NCAA job unless he was retiring or immediately had another job lined up.

Prettyman took over the Titanic in mid sinking. He stabilized our athletic department, saved football, and made some great coaching hires. He saved our department from an AD that only wanted women’s basketball.

He wasn’t perfect, no one is. But he was great for what we needed at the time.

I agree, he was a good AD. I think he stuck around a little too long though and made some questionable decisions toward the end of his tenure at ISU.

Given the $$ resources available; the history of ISU, his tenure is far better than some of his predecessors, Gallo, Faison, Myers (shudder)

Lot of folks simply believe the AD is also the coach for any sport, the chief recruiter and the b/u QB

His biggest failure? Not picking a $100M+ lotto ticket and giving it all to the ISU Athl Department, even if he DID do that, he'd still be criticized by some
