No changes that the NCAA makes ever benefits Mid-Majors. They are totally geared to making more $$$ for the P5+. This rule will just allow more of the same...

Agree --- it's on open secret that the P-5 schools are extorting the NCAA; not sure how that's overcome as the NCAA is a volunteer organization

unless Congress decides to intervene along anti-trust lines but that's the last thing intercollegiate athletics needs... congressional interest

It might help DII MBB powers more as players look to both play and make an impact in an NCAA tourney. I doubt it helps DI MBB outside the Power 5, but it might make some of the Power 5 leagues more interesting as the stacked rosters of the traditional powers won't elevate as much as a middle of the pack team. Perhaps 1-2 key transfers really change the talent level of those teams and jumble the deck. For an ISU, the hope would be to be of interest to a talented player on a mediocre/bad low Mid-Major team and I can see how that might happen.

I see it happening the other way with ISU i.e. losing an exceptionally talented player or two to a P5 or other major team.

in what scenario... after all, we can't have any talent, given how "bad the team and coach" are...

right?

I could see getting talent in some sports that might have gone the JuCo route instead, hoping to look good and transfer to a bigger school. I dont think this would be the norm though.

I wonder what happens more often. Huge recruits dont pan out or overlooked players become stars.

Once the MM/LM schools voted to give the HM schools full autonomy, the game was over. It had already been separating with conference realignment and major media deals but that was the final blow as it allows them to push through whatever rules they wanted essentially.

If RP gets remembered for one thing, he spoke up and out about it. He knew this is what would happen. Anyone with two functioning brain cells saw it. The problem is a lot of the ADs aspire to be at those big colleges so they wouldn't dare burn bridges. This is also why MM/LMs lose when they piss on their alumni that want to work for the school because they love the place. Self inflicted wounds abound.

No, those kids usually take a "post grad" year and play for one of the big prep schools. Khristian Smith, for example, did that. The kids that end up in the JUCO ranks are usually academic casualties or reeeeeeeeal late bloomers.

I've seen data for football in the past. I think like 50% of 5-star recruits end up getting drafted. So it's a coin flip.
