1. Payton Manning - is their really any doubt? I mean this guy and Bill Polian (but I couldn't vote for him) turned this franchise not only into a winner but one of the most successful franchises in all of sports. He's the best to ever play the game.

2. Reggie Wayne - A lot of conversation around Reggie being better than Marvin. Well here are a few reasons why he's better - he shows up in the big games, I contend that we would have never beat the Bears in the Super Bowl with out a receiver of his size. He has a much better attitude, has their ever been a classier receiver in all the league? Reggie Wayne is the best receiver in the NFL right now, he is toying with people. He makes hard catches look easy.

3. Jeff Saturday - Look how much they missed this guy last year when he was hurt? Manning and him are on the same page ALL the time. His job at the line is so darn important calling out def. schemes and directing the blockers. It's really amazing how good of a job he has done. Given he stays healthy, he will be a pro bowler yet again. The job he does protecting Manning is excellent - I don't consider him a very good run blocker, but he's not bad.

4. Dwight Freeney - Sure he is terrible against the run, but this guy has wreaked havoc on opposing lines and QB's. You have to understand that the Colts are built to play with a lead - and given that the O does it's job this program fits Dwight perfectly. He is as good of a pass rusher the league has ever seen. Another example of Bill Polian pulling out all the stops.

5. Bob Sanders - Without Bob Sanders the Colts wouldn't have an injury report every week. All you need is for this guy to be healthy for the playoffs, who really needs him when you are 3 - 0? Remember the hit he made on Cedric Benson in the SB? The one that caused the fumble? Yeah the dude can still play - if you have any dreams of winning another SB, we need a healthy Bob Sanders. Oh yeah, that Powers kid out of Auburn is not to bad.

1. Manning
2. Saturday
3. Freeney
4. Mathis
5. Clark

Noticed I left Reggie out...love #87 but with a QB like Peyton we could win games with any reciever....

Would have to disagree with that - how in the world can you put Clark on the list and leave Reggie off the list? You know what people have a tendency to do when they watch something special, they have a tendency to take it for granted. Don't for a second take Reggie Wayne and what he can do for granted. He simply has the best hands of any receiver in football - for example that one handed grab last weekend for the TD, not a lot of players in the league would have made that catch - on plays like that the wide receiver can make Payton look pretty darn good. You have to take into consideration that for the last 2 or 3 years now Reggie has been drawing double and sometimes triple coverage with a DB on him, LB in the middle and a safety deep and he still finds the ball.

Having Reggie on the field makes it easier for the other receivers to get open. He's far more versatile than Harrison was (although not as fast and not quite as sharp on routes) and he makes catches every bit as breathtaking as Harrison did.

Manning - obvious reasons
Wayne - will often draw double coverage and free others. seems to me he doesn't get the recognition he deserves (which may be a good thing fro the team
Clark - keeps defense honest
Freeney - closest thing we have to a playmaker on defense. although the beefier guys up front this year should make a difference.
Saturday - anchor for the offensive line, has a sense of calmness and urgency at the same time.

honorable mentions: polian and off & def coordinators. they are something special with their ability to analyze, break things down, get the team prepared week in/out. Polian..because we could have ended up w/Ryan Leaf...and everyone would have been cool w/that choice at the time...perhaps the Colts org would have changed his behavior

Manning- Obviously
Freeny- He puts pressure on the QB constantly. If we didn't have pressure on the opposing QB I would be very nervous about our secondary
Reggie- He will be in the pro bowl again this year. The guy makes some unbelieveable catches
Clark- Opens up the middle of the field and is also a great blocker. He and Reggie do a good job getting the other WR's open.
Nugateri LOL- He is the most clutch kicker in NFL history and if we need him, he doesn't miss.

I was gonna let it go in your first post, but then you did it again...You gotta show THE MAN the respect he deserves by spelling his first name right.

Man you all are rough crowd - I forgot every post of mine was under the scope. I guess when you only have 3 cousins in your family and one of them is named Payton, spelled pAyton - that's prolly where that is coming from. But I am clearly not a true Colts fan because I miss spelled Peyton's name, it's almost like being negative about something negative and then being tabbed a non fan.

Peyton if you read this - I think you are amazing, you really are the best ever bra!

You need to tell cous' that his name is spelled rong.

Well his dad was a big Bears fan back in the day, he is named after Walter Payton not Peyton Manning. But they are both pretty big Colts fans these days - it's easy to convert to a winner like the Colts. Plus everyone thinks he's prolly named after Peyton Manning. But this is all really besides the point!

Colts looked really good again today - they are making it look easy. Kinda boring, don't ya all think?

Young receivers are playing great! Wayne looked a little uninterested in today's game - can't say I blame him. The O Line is doing a fantastic job - hopefully that injury to Johnson is nothing serious.

Big question this week is will we see Bob Sanders this week? Tom you know anything? You would think they would have put him on the PUP for the first 5 weeks of the season if they didn't think he was going to play until week 6. I would like to see him play a game then get a game off and get ready for the second have of the season! You figure if we can win next Sunday and Jags loss, we will all but have clinched the division. Amazing to even consider that but as long as the guys stay healthy, this bad boy is a lock!

Nah -- I've given up trying to make any sense of 'standardized' name spellings. Heard a good one lately; a girl named "le-ah" Lee-ah perhaps?! NO!

It's pronounced 'La DASH a' ?!?!?!

We should all give Morgan a pass on spelling (though I wish he'd figure out 'losing' vs 'loosing'!) Sorry, couldn't resist!

I have never professed to be a strong speller... I have my "publications" here at worked proofed at least 2 or 3 times before I send them out... The nice thing about the web browser Google Chrome is it automatically spell checks anything you type - but it does not catch everything! And in all honesty I type pretty fast and don't worry to much about spelling on a message board!

Likely not your fault...

You mentioned your age last week; you sound young enough to have experienced "alternative spellings" in English.

Part of the 'new wave' in education; teachers don't correct spelling errors (might cause a child to THINK they did something wrong); instead, any mis-spellings were noted as "alternative" spellings!

Thankfully, w/ twitter and texting -- spelling is no longer a valued skill!

He's missed quite a few since becoming a Colt. I really have no faith in him anymore. When he makes one of any real distance, I consider it a surprise.

He has missed a few, but if we really need a field goal say to, win a game...he will make it.
I will also put Robert Mathis as first honorable mention. He is a beast and is just a little over shadowed by Freeny. He should be a pro bowler again this year if he continues to play the way he has played the first few games.
