After only two seasons. Ouch. Assume Mike Sr. gone too.

no shock at all, and thank goodness we have Mallory now! I can't even imagine the mess we'd be in if Sanford was still the coach, ugh...... I never trusted the guy from day 1 and was glad he went to WKU. Onward and upward with Mallory!
I think we'd have been fine with Sanford, if he'd stayed. He was a west coast guy and that seemed to be the only thing people in TH had against him.

The Sanford Regime's recruiting was certainly suspect, but I also had an issue with his assistants. That OC was absolutely horrible. And I think Sanford gave him (and some others) too much free reign. Particularly when the issues were obvious to anyone with functioning eyes and a brain.
But if you can't recruit the players to compete in the MVFC, scheme doesn't matter much. And he was having a lot of trouble recruiting the right players.
He seemed like a good man, though. Always sad to see someone lose their job and have to pack up and move, but that's the life of a coach. I've heard many of them say that in the coaching business, you get hired to get fired.
Rather than the west coast thing being something people had against him, Id say its more of him being from there not helping him. I think Mallory's ties to the state made people interested that might have otherwise been apathetic.
I think a merging there two was his issue. From what I was told, he was very hands off aside for his pet projects and gave his assistants way too much freedom, especially in the talent eval process.
From all accounts he was a great guy but I heard the same thing about at least 2 or 3 assistants -- complete and total pricks to people on school employees. I think the big change happened when Mills took Bever with him to NMH, it kinda shifted the culture a bit.
Does anyone think Sanford Jr. may have jumped on a bus at WKU that was left bare after Brohm had success with Willie Taggart and Bobby Petrino's recruiting? I havent paid much attention to either except for W-L record. I know all the Purdue guys love him and Louisville wants him but...
Along that same line, think WKU would hire Petrino back?

Well, it would be a cheaper hire this time around... not only salary but instead of a company car, they can just do a company motorcycle.

Company Car? Company motorcycle?
I don't understand that, just like I don't understand the enormity of a $14 MILLION DOLLAR severance package.
Did anyone on here pick up $14 MILLION DOLLARS in one fell swoop recently, or did anyone on here make $3.45 millon per year for the last two years?
Me thinks Bobby can buy his own cars, and pay for a Chauffeur on just on the interest from that kind of money.
