There's a decent thread at Valley Talk that I wanted to bring over here because I know lots of guys here don't post there.
It's my personal feeling that the non-conference schedules in the Valley have really taken a hit in recent years. To be sure, non conference scheduling can be a craps shoot, sometimes a team you THINK will be a strong point (LSU?) ends up laying an egg for the year and turns into a bad loss.
A couple ideas I've seen and liked:
1. Schedule the big boys in 2 for 1, 3 for 1, 4 for 0...whatever it takes.
2. No scheduling of teams with below a certain RPI for the previous year.
In the end, if you win your games, that's all that really matters. But, I'm still curious...what are some of your thoughts on how the Valley strength of schedule could be improved?
