TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Just eight days into the 2009 Indiana State preseason football camp, the Sycamores held a spirited scrimmage to conclude its second two-a-day practice session.
ISU was led offensively by quarterback Chris Stutzreim, who completed 5-of-7 passes for 92 yards, including a long of 36 yards to Larry Lacotti which was just a small step out of bounds for being a long scoring strike.
Antoine Brown paced the sycamores on the ground with 49 rushing yards on 11 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Brown scored on runs of 18 yards and finished off the drive highlighted by the 36-yard Lacotti catch with a two-yard plunge on the next play.
Koby Kraemer had a pair of catches for 45 yards, including a 38-yarder, also from Stutzreim and had two rushes for a total of 21 yards.
Ryan Roberts had two catches for 30 yards while Jeramie Gray hauled in a 21-yard scoring strike from Kraemer.
The defense controlled most of the second half of the scrimmage as Mike Woods and Aaron Archie both recorded sacks. Freshman Dillion Painter recovered the only fumble of the scrimmage to thwart one of the Sycamores' would-be scoring drives.
Baulio Martinez was 1-for-2 on his field goal attempts, including a 35-yard make and a 37-yard miss. He was 5-of-6 on his PAT attempts.
In addition to touchdowns already mentioned, Matt Seliger scored on a 14-yard rush; Roberts hauled in an 18-yard toss from Travis Johnson; Robbie Aldridge had a one-yard scoring plunge and Austen Wozniak recorded the defense's only score of the night, a safety.
Indiana State will continue fall drills this week, highlighted by the annual Blue/White Scrimmage on Thursday, August 20 at 6 p.m. The public is invited to Memorial Stadium as the team gets its final tuneup before the season opener against Quincy on August 27.
