Such a bummer. Dude had a massive passion and connection with sports in the Wabash Valley. Was head and shoulders above other reporters when it came to the ISU baseball situation and Schertz saga. Was actually good at Twitter.
 
Instead of cutting the dozen or so staff writers who publish articles on the daily that are littered with spelling and grammatical errors they just went for the guy making more money. Seems like it would've been more cost effective to trash the staff writers and keep Rick. Corporate budget cuts and layoffs are never done correctly, case in point.

Didn't someone post on social media that they cut those people, too? I saw it referred to as "mass layoffs" in several tweets.

Did some cursory searching and it looks like Allen Media Group laid off hundreds if not thousands between all of their properties. Also saw they bid $30 billion on Paramount assets back in January so this could be related.

Seems smart - buy another company which requires you to cannibalize your current operations. That's some next level, Harvard business school shit right there...
