Shakir Bell’s official Pro Day times from his private workout for NFL scouts in Indianapolis last month have been released. According to Bell’s representatives, there were scouts from 19 teams in attendance at the session.

The former record-setting Indiana State running back was officially measured at 5-5 5/8 and 185 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 and 4.62 seconds, had a 37-inch vertical jump and a 10-1 broad jump. Bell also ran a 4.39-second short shuttle and did 13 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Somebody's been working out...

Good luck to Shakir. Although I don't see him getting drafted, I do expect he'll be picked up as a RFA somewhere.

His speed is not bad but he falls short in many measures. Hope this link works. I was curious to so I searched out while I am stuck at home.

I'd actually say his speed is subpar based on his height. There are only a few RBs in the league his size like Darren Sproles, for example, and he ran a 4.47 in the 2009 combine. Being a full tenth a second behind someone like him and being 5-6 is going to be troublesome. I hope he gets a look though because you can't measure the kid's heart when his head is in the right place.

Hard to believe that Andrew Luck is faster. Nothing earth-shaking sticks out in his "Pro Day" but he falls short on almost everything. His odds are not good and most of us know that. I still think his sudden "departure" whether forced or not, will not help his resume. Leaving suddenly in his senior year just doesn't say much positive for him, whether deserved or not.

Just figured him up compared to the running backs at the combine. He averaged 17th out of the 34 there.

Thanks for doing that Shock. I'll let your young brain do all the work while I recoup. My take was that his times were "about" average so I am happy that my aging brain is still pretty functional.

I highly doubt he gets drafted. As a Sophomore, I thought he was on pace to be a 3rd or 4th round draft pick. After his junior year, maybe sixth or seventh, after last season, not at all. He'll probably get an invite to a camp, maybe with the Colts, but he's going to have to bust major ass and hope for a little luck to stick.
