Like us, they've played some decent teams, but no one all that amazing. Tennessee and Alabama look good, but they're really not. The St. Louis win is a good one.

they have won games in TOUGH places, something we have failed to do, (save the ND game). We were BLOWN OUT at St. Louis and lost to 0-4 Tulsa in a neutral setting and Belmont in what was actually a good environment. I would be impressed if we had WSU's resume, but at this point I am ok with ours, as long as we play well in MVC play

The Shockers are pretty good. They have won everything put before them. Keep in mind though that 10 of their 13 wins were home games. They did win their 3 road games at Tulsa, St. Louis & Alabama. St. Louis is the only one that could be considered an impressive win. Now we will see how they fare in "Death Valley".

Don't look now, but Tulsa tied at halftime at Maryland. Have led the entire game until the last seconds of the first half.

Officially, the record is 7 home wins, although one neutral court win was at the downtown arena and I'll give you that one as a home win in spite of how it is viewed officially. So, counting that as a home win, it is 8 wins at home, 3 on the road and 2 at a neutral court in Kansas City. Once again, since the Shockers travel so well, our fans really outnumbered our opponents in Kansas City. In fact, there were almost as many Shocker fans in Tulsa as Hurricane fans in Tulsa. And, the Shocker fans really drowned out the Tulsa fans who generally seemed more like the gallery at a golf tournament.

The fact is that the Shockers have done whatever is needed to win to this point. They've done it against some pretty good competition. The Davidson team that the Shockers just beat by 11 took UNC to overtime in Chapel Hill, and then only because they missed way too many free throws at the end of regulation.

This is certainly not to say that the Shockers will blow through the Valley. There are many very tough games ahead and I would not predict that the Shox will go through those game unscathed. I have too much respect for the Valley for that. Especially your team. I've told you before how much Jake Odum scares me. And he is far from being all the Sycamores have. And after you beat Belmont by 12 yesterday, there is no denying what you can do. This Belmont team has really been something this year.

I'm more than ready for the Valley season to begin now. It will be very tough needless to say. Any team that takes a lot of 3's like Davidson did today and makes nearly 40% will be extra tough. Some of their bigs stepped out and hit 3's and that kept the game interesting.

Good luck friends. And by the way, when it comes time for the Shox to travel to Terre Haute, I'll be asking for advise on any microbreweries you might have in the area. I love craft beers.

Maryland starting to pull away. Seems like Tulsa is following there usual MO, play the better team even or ahead for 30 minutes or so, then fade down the stretch and lose close (Except for against us of course)

They're a young team, from what I recall, so fading in the second half is going to be a problem. It still is for us on occasion.

The only "brewery" in Terre Haute is Moggers Brewery (a lot of history and solid food/beer selection) but they don't make any hand crafted beers anymore - so hope that helps, the nearest micors are in Indy or St. Louis on your way to the Haute.

Anyone trying to discount a perfect non conference record should stop. I don't care who they played or where they played them. Perfect is perfect no matter how you spin it. People use to always try and downplay the Memphis Calapari perfectness and it really don't hold water - partly because he was cheating and mainly because they were flat out good. The Shox deserve all the credit and we have no place to down play it.

For the record, other than looking for places to drink beer I will never understand why other fans visit other fans forums... I just don't understand it - maybe not for me to understand. Except for Chase Wilson of course only because he hunts deer and I can relate to that sort of a thing.

For any Shox fan reading this thread (I know you all don't have much else going down in Wichita, KS right now - I've been more than once) when us Sycamore fans talk hoops we got a decent idea what the hell is going on, pretty good reason none of us post your second fan forum MVCFans. So you can come tell us we are wrong all you want (which you haven't really done yet). One fact remains, in the last 4 years at no point have you found an answer for Jake Odum and that is a fact.

I Love craft beer myself... unfortunately, Terre Haute no longer has it's own taste... there are some very good Indiana Breweries (Upland, 3 Floyds, - and the best place to get a taste of those breweries is:
1. Sonka's (Irish Pub - locally owned - best tap selection in town - great character - Downtown)
2. Mogger's (Restaurant/Bar - locally owned - good character - Downtown)
3. Bagger Daves (in the mall - south end of town - by most hotels.)

List of Indiana Breweries:

Good call on your fav bar Sonkas, they do have a lot of great beers and excellent food! Both Sonka and Moggers just 2 miles less to the Hulman Center.

I have become a tree fan thank you very much.

However, I'm not impressed with their defense!

I'm not sure how many games you have watched or what you were expecting to see that would impress you. But for the record the Shockers are holding their opponents an average of 8.5 pts below their season average.

Actually that is incorrect. The intrust game counted as a home game.

WSU 8-0 at Home
WSU 3-0 Away (Alabama, Tulsa, STL)
WSU 2-0 Neutral (BYU, Depaul)

One of the home wins is against Div 2 opponent.

One fact remains, in the last 4 years at no point have you found an answer for Jake Odum and that is a fact.

I just went back the last 2 years and WSU is 4-1 vs ISUB, looks like he had good game, couple sub-par games and couple average games. The question is will you have an answer for Baker?

1/15/12 ISUB LOSS - Odum 6 pts, on 1 of 7 shooting, 8 assist, 2 TO
2/14/12 ISUB LOSS - Odum 21 pts, 6 of 11 shooting, 4 assist, 2 TO
3/2/12 ISUB LOSS - Odum 6 pts, on 2 of 9 shooting, 1 assist, 2 TO
1/29/13 ISUB WIN - Odum 10 pts on 2 of 7 shooting, 4 assist
2/19/13 ISUB LOSS- Odum 15 pts, 6 of 11 shooting, 5 assist, 3 TO

One questions you forgot to answer is on Coach Marshall. Is he a super duesch all the time or only when the camera is rolling?

Does it really matter with 111-23 record over the last 4 years that includes NIT championship, 2 trips in a row to the NCAA with a final 4 and in the Top 10 ranking this year?

You coulda gone back all 4 years if you wanted since you seem to be in the business of setting the record strait - thanks for your input. Did I say that the Shox didn't have an answer for Indiana State? I didn't - I said you didn't have one for 13.

But lets not forget 3-5-2011 when the Sycamores upended heavy favorite Wichita State in the MVC Tourney in front of a "large Shox crowd". Maybe you forgot that game?!?! You know the one that really counted - the one that kept the Shox out of the BD - the one that helped us get in the BD.

I highly doubt we will have an answer for Baker as I think he is probably the second best player in the MVC behind Early. I'm not in the business of coming on fan forums and disrespecting other teams. Maybe you missed the part of post that suggested the Shox were every bit as good as that perfect record suggests. That being said I'm quite positive that Arop and Smith are long enough and athletic enough to guard Baker - he's going to get his numbers but if you can match him on the other end it's a wash.

I mean you've been visiting this forum for some time telling us why we are wrong - so I am glad this sets up a perfect platform for you to do that. Again I just don't understand trolling aka tooling around...

And how many chokes in Arch Madness?

It is kind of perplexing, especially considering since WSU has had a NCAA at large, Sweet 16 and final 4 quality teams in the last 8 years. You would have thought one of those teams would have broken through the glass ceiling in STL. But the key thing is to build an at-large resume so that a weekend in STL doesn't ruin March.

You said that WSU had no answer for Odum, I went back 2 years and found a couple games where Odum had sub-par games against WSU. Really no need to go any further to dispel that myth, right?

Not sure how I have been trolling. I don't come here making fun of ISUB when they lose. I mainly lurk, but if I see something on WSU that is factually incorrect or where I can provide additional enlightenment - I do. And if I disagree with an opinion, I try to provide actual facts that back up my thoughts. And again you can look at my forum history, and I don't think you can really come to conclusion that I'm a hit-n-run troll.

Plus your forum administer keeps sending me birthday wishes and invitations to come back and check out all the action on the board. So you can blame him for my presence.
