The Varsity Level
The most obvious way to wins games is to out score your opponent. duh!
So, how many points do you think we'll score per game this year and to make the guessing just a little more difficult. Who do you think will get those points?

I am going to say we'll average 70 a game. This is loosely based on the fact that we scored 66 a game last year and I believe that our assists will be up and turnovers down. Now lets see....He'll get thirty minutes a game and he'll get twenty five...guess I'll have to get back with you on the who'll get what.

Do you think that we'll have a dominate scorer or will it be a more evenly distributed team scoring aspect? Guessing a lot of scoring by a number of players this year. Could be tough for the other guys to figure out who to key on.

70/game works for me, but it's REALLY hard to figure who'll get them. With the coaching change, our hopeful depth, and offensive style changes, I'd like to think we'll see a more balanced approach. If we can get 4 players (Printy/Carter, Richard, Lathan, Kelly?) averaging double figures along with a solid post presence on defense, we're going to be in VERY good shape.

It's hard to predict the type of game players will adopt in college, but RJ and Odum could both score a boatload of pts in HS.

They sure don't give us much respect, most has state finishing 7th in the mvc:censored:

The only time I remember in State getting respect was in the 1999-2000 and 2000-01 seasons...

If / When we make the post-season (again) this season, I expect the 2011-12 mags to be more positive

That is one of the reasons I wanted to know how many points the forum participants felt like we would score. From the outside, what they know is that we lost 41 percent of our scoring. Yep, forty one percent. Now, the team has to find a way to replace that or you end up seventh. That is from their perspective. I still believe that seventy points a game an obtainable goal and we haven't reached that milestone for years.

On the outside looking in we have a lot of unprovens...can we defend the basket, will we be able to replace our two highest scorers, how is Jake Kelly's knee, are our redshirts ready to contribute, can a team with a new head coach perform upto their potential, who will be the team leader and alot of other question marks this team has.

If we get double digits from...Kelly, Richard, Lathan, AC/JP that gets us to about fifty can we find twenty more per game...from Koang, RJ, Walker, Odum, Martin, and the double E s. I think we can, I think we can, I think we can.....

mags schmags.....hey, I bet these same geniuses had last years Final Four picked correctly too. NOT.

Other than Buttler last year; how many people were surprised with MSU, Duke and WVU...

I believe Lindy's picked duke to repeat this season, west laffy tech, msu (again) and...Kansas (i think)

Are they accurate? Who knows -- I buy em cause they have every schedule, break downs on the teams, the coaching changes; on occasion the ncaa career stats...

It also allows me to remain analog when I'm watching a non-MVC or Big Ten game --- I've no interest in watching the game with one eye and my computer with the other...

I think getting picked 7th is just fine...better to be the hunter than the hunted at this point. Plus this could be used as a motivating tool for the team...locker room chalk board material if you will. Get the guys a little fired up for not getting recognized for what they achieved last season.
