When has a more proven B-10 player transferred to ISU?

In the Tribune-Star article, it says that the last B-10 player to transfer to ISU was Terrance Avery in 1998. I wonder if there has ever been such a successful B-10 player transfer in to ISU before? We all know what Larry Bird did after he got here, but I'm not sure what kind of expectations initially arrived with him. Jake was expected to be in contention for Big Ten Player of the Year next year. His stats from the last 7 regular season games (after his switch to PG), were above Kalin Lucas, Manny Harris, Evan Turner, et al. Think what he can do in an up-tempo offense!
 
For me, as far as expectations, this ranks with Bird and John Sherman Williams.
And what makes if more exciting is that I thought we would be pretty good BEFORE his transfer. I think we are as deep as we have ever been. Still not great inside, but all we really need is good D and a little O inside to complete the package. I don't remember the stats but I think we went a long way towards fixing our rebounding problem in the last 3rd of the season and I think our D was much better also. All we need now is some hard work and team chemistry.
 
I just happened to check the Tribstar website when I got back from lunch and saw Golden's story. I'd like to hear his take on it. Maybe he'll share his thoughts on what this does for the team on his blog (hint, hint).

Great day for Sycamore hoops! This will be a huge shot in the arm for the program and hopefuly along with all the local talent we'll have bring out the fans!

is griping about transfers....didn't siu get a transfer from iowa too???...tony freeman????....i think so....lol.....
 
SIU fans are complete IDIOTS, no doubt about it. It's always great when ISU beats SIU, and I look forward to even more ISU wins over SIU in all sports.

GREAT to see JK officially make the announcement today! Next season is going to be something else (if he plays right away).

It's just Dawgiestyle, most SIU posters don't agree with him.....grain of salt there, grain of salt!
 
About Southern Illinois: Jake and Tony Freeman are very good friends so if Jake can play next season it will be fun to see them play against each other.
