Yeah i always thought coaches were WAY to cautious with fouls.

Like you take a kid out of the game because you don't want the chance of him having to come out of the game.....
 
Who am I to argue with Nate Oats...but...I think it also depends on the player. If JD picks up two fouls in his first three minutes on the floor, I'm not gonna leave him in.

On the flip side, I think coaches should also take advantage of opposing players with 2-4 fouls on them...I would instruct my players to drive the ball toward them, try to get fouled.

It makes zero sense to “disqualify” your own player by taking them out of the game to prevent them from being disqualified later in the game. There is an argument to be made that crunch time minutes are more important (performance in the last 5 minutes is more important than the first 5 minutes) but you have to be close enough to your opponent for that to matter. If you take your best player out for significant minutes in the middle of the game, you most likely never get there.
