JaVaughn Moore can be considered one of the fastest people in MVC history if not THE fastest!

Alright track fans coming down to the wire down in Chicago. Current score for mens is Illinois State: 135 Indiana State:134

3 events left to be scored.

High jump: ISU is guaranteed AT LEAST 14 points if not 16 points.
Illinois State will score 5 in the event

That puts us at
Indiana State: 148 or 150
Illinois State: 140

Mens 3k: Neither team has a person in the top 8 so if a school could sneak a guy in and score it would be HUGE

Mens 4x4: Illinois State has the top time with Indiana State a close 2nd. BUT Indiana State has had 2 400 guys come up short today with what appears to be pulled hamstrings. Things are getting interesting

High jump went final. INSU got 14 while ILSU got 5

Current score:
Indiana State 148
Illinois State 140

Mens 3k about to begin. If Indiana State can sneak a guy in the top 8 it nearly ices the conference, if Illinois state can get a guy top 8 it makes things interesting going down to the 4x4 to end the meet.

Illinois State kid comes up huge in the 3k to get 6th giving the Redbirds 3 points they weren't expecting.

Score:
Indiana State: 148
Illinois State: 143

1 event left. 4x4 relay. Illinois state has the best time going into the event while we are #2. But the sycamores have some injuries right now

So assuming Illinois State gets 1st in the relay, Sycamores are outright champions if they finish no worse than 3rd. They will tie with Illinois State if they get 4th. Going to be interesting with all the runners pulling up lame for the Sycamores!

Damn the Martin’s really ran the program into the ground @ISUCC
Not sure what happened 3 or 4 years ago when the program took a major dive, but glad to see the bounce back and in the running to win conference every year like we should be. The next step is to get the cross country and distance crews back up where they were in the early 2010s. I know majority of individuals don't think those are "sexy" events but those individuals are SSSOOOO valuable as they can compete and score so many points throughout the school year. Anyways great job sycamores!

They will get Cross Country going again - it just takes time sometimes. It's very difficult in ANY D1 sport to have a program that just wins every single year. If you have a couple of bad recruiting years back-to-back where kids just don't develop into what you thought they could, have a few transfers, have some career ending injuries - it's going to really set your program back...

Add in the fact that Angie Martin was taking over for a legendary coach not just at Indiana State but across the country. John Gartland retired from being a Head Coach a few seasons later. The program that had been the model for stability suddenly had very little. Difficult decisions had to be made... It wasn't a fun time for anyone - I don't think anyone took joy in some of the things that had to happen to get the program pointed in the right direction.

A lot of alums became divided over this. Some are still very divided over it and don't want anything to do with the program. That is on them. You can't make them come back - that's a decision that they are going to have to make individually. Most I think have come to terms with things - winning certainly helps and we've been winning a lot lately.
