This was clearly a throw-away game as far as pitching is concerned. One regular reliever started. The other pitchers were not regulars. In fact, two freshmen got their first appearances of the season...ruining their potential to redshirt. Plus, after a month of being sidelined, we saw a once great prospect (had a great 2010 season and then underwent arm surgery) come in and give up three straight hits and two runs with no one retired before being removed. Sad.

As for the offense, we saw a lot of substituting.

Clearly a game that Coach Hannahs didn't care to go to great lengths to win.

Agree---he wants his starting pitchers to be rested and lined up for the three game series against UE this weekend!

Makes you kinda wonder if they were hoping they could get by the season without using the freshmen, hoping to red shirt them, but since the team is short on arms this year, they figured they would need those arms down the stretch. Young arms are better than no arms.

It would have been a nice game to win, but staying injury free and fresh for the weekend is the important thing.

They only used 2 true freshman yesterday and one was Lunsford who has pitched quite a bit already. Conway was the other and he had made one other appearance.

You are right!

Martin is a redshirt freshman. Austin Conway a true freshman. Patterson is a junior
