Has anyone else noticed that Sycamore Vision does not list any upcoming live events? Not just for football, but for any sport. Any idea where / if the Butler game will be broadcast?

I'm wondering if it's because everything will now be on ESPN3? But yeah, there is no broadcast listed for the Butler game.

When I've tried to watch ESPN3 in the past, I've had no luck because my provider isn't one of those they list as available.

According to a news article on the www.valley-football.org website. ISU plans to offer the game via www.ustream.tv/channel/5Q7wPdmNZjE

I have never heard of this streaming service, when I went to the website they had a ISU portal. It says this week is free, so I assume they are charging for other weeks. I also assume this replaces sycamore vision.

Below is the link to the article I read this in:

In the PDF attachment it lists all the viewing options for the season. It appears all games will be on ESPN3 except the first three games. Purdue is on ESPN News and it says Butler is on USTREAM nothing listed for SE Missouri

I looked for the game on WatchESPN and next weeks game at Purdue comes up, but nothing comes up regarding this week. Looks like it is Ustream for me.

Anyone know anything about UStream? It's not going to make my computer crash or anything crazy is it?

Ustream Wikipedia page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ustream

Paid service[edit]

Ustream's basic service is free and supported by advertising revenue. A paid service called Watershed was formerly available, charging broadcasters on a per-viewer basis and allowing either ad-free service or broadcaster-supplied advertisements.[10] In 2013, Ustream phased out the Watershed program for their Pro Broadcasting Services, based on monthly charges to broadcasters.[11]

---

So maybe this is a one time thing since Ustream doesn't offer a paid service. Sure would be nice if the university would tell us what's going on and actually promote this free broadcast. You know, communicate with the fans it wants to take an interest in the team. Crazy thought.

ISU soccer is usually on this service, I've watched it before, it's ok, usually just one camera view from the press box.

Heres some things that i have noticed in the past regarding watch espn/espn3. espn 3 on the computer or my xbox is free and you dont need your provider to offer it. the watch espn app requires you provider to offer it so watch it on your computer.

Hopefully it will be more that just one camera so high up you can't even read a jersey number or find the ball, but, free is free and even if it is just one lowly camera, I will probably still tune in.

I believe UStream had all the ISU Baseball games last spring. Usually no play by play broadcasters. sometimes you could hear the PA announcer but not always, and only limited camera from press box and always slow to zoom in if at all. It was free, however.

Sycamore Vision is still promoted right on the GoSycamores.com page. If they are no longer using it, they should really pull it from there.

Going from that service to one with a single camera and no announcers would be a big step backward. Sycamore Vision had its problems, and it was not free, but it would be worth the small fee to see a decent broadcast. Hopefully, this will be worked out soon. I'll be at the game, but the grandparents live much farther away and rely primarily on broadcasts to watch the game.

I'm guessing u-stream will be good quality assuming the posts I've read about Isu getting new video equipment is true. I believe Loyola broadcast all their games on u-stream and it was good quality. I'd expect this to be better than Sycamorevision.

Is this really a "broadcast" though, or just a service that shows a live feed of the bare bones footage they record for coaches to use? Don't get me wrong, something is better than nothing, and it's free, but from the sounds of it, I don't think this should be confused with something it's not.

Loyola's was a full broadcast with play by play, replays, and multiple camera angles. Not sure what Isu has planned for theirs but I hope they make a production of it.

I think I read somewhere that they were getting prepared for the new camera system or whatever. (it may have been here)

Ok. Now that the UStream broadcast has been in place for a couple games, is anyone else getting any audio with the video? My parents have been able to get the game video only. I'm wondering if that is an issue with them only, or if this is the way the new streaming is for everyone.

I figured the remainder of the games would all be espn3.

I doubt these feeds are what the teams use. They keep those on certain areas. They would not be enjoyable for a fan to watch live.

Not sure. They have the volleyball games on ESPN3 so they've got the setup up and running in the Arena.

Really wish there would be some communication to the fans from the school on this, the transition period and even a "bare with us" while we make it message would have gone a long way instead of leaving us in the dark like they normally do.

no audio except for some of the sponsored commercials which are most likely pre-recorded. your parents can listen online at 95.9 FM DUKE. show them how to open ustream and the radio station in another window at same time.
