You're never going to win in the MVFC by recruiting a bunch of kids from Indiana.

Every single one of those are FBS offers. We don’t even have a shot at those kids. We cannot win with a bunch of low level FCS/DII/DIII kids.

And I highly, HIGHLY doubt any of those schools have 60+ players from Indiana. Because there is just not enough talent in Indiana to make that work anywhere. Nick Saban couldn’t win with our roster.

If Indiana or Purdue got every kid from Indiana they would win, but they still wouldn’t win the league. Would go 8-4 or something.

Like ITF said, not enough talent in the state

All you said was you can't win with Indiana kids.
A BUNCH of kids from Indiana. I didn’t say you can't win with any kids from Indiana. There's a difference. And that recruiting philosophy is not based in the reality of where we play when you figure how far down we are on the hierarchy of college football around here. There just isn't enough talent in Indiana to make that work. It's not hard to figure out.

I don't know, maybe he has severe restrictions on where he can recruit. That was a recipe used to slowly choke the program to death before Miles arrived. Maybe it's happening again. Nothing from ISU surprises me at this point.

Just for some data:

BSU - 50 Indiana kids
IU - 43 Indiana kids
PU - 40 Indiana kids
ND - 8 Indiana kids

I think finding linemen in Indiana is probably a pretty safe bet but if you're not getting your skill positions from Sunshine states where they play football year round, you're likely putting yourself at a disadvantage. The best years in Sycamore history we had QBs from California, for example.

I think taking it a step further, the Wabash Valley isn't a big enough population center to have 16 kids unless there are a lot of walk-ons in that group.

Ball State sucks. Indiana sucks. Purdue is a mirage. ND is serious - and they don't take a bunch of Indiana kids. Indiana just doesn't have enough talent! 133 kids from Indiana playing at three schools way above us in the pecking order. That doesn't even count the ones that go to other Big 10 and MAC schools. By continuing to recruit Indiana so heavily, we are effectively making ourselves a D-III program.

I don't know why I care. If we're going to keep up this football charade, our football budget should be halved and the half they take away should go directly into men's basketball.

No, you're right. I mean, even former players were calling this out on social media yesterday.

:unsure: Weren't Raetz' best QBs from Indiana or Illinois?

Considering Raetz had just two great seasons at ISU early in his career then only had two winning seasons for the next decade and a half, I don't think that says much at all.
