INDIANA STATE IN FOURTH PLACE AFTER SECOND DAY OF CHRIS BANISTER GAMECOCK CLASSIC
Breanne Smith Leads The Sycamores For Second Consecutive Round
GADSDEN, Ala. – Indiana State is in fourth place after the second day of the Chris Banister Gamecock Classic hosted on the Robert Trent Golf Trail at Silver Lake. The eight team field is being hosted by Jacksonville State on the par-72, 5,943 yard layout.
Breanne Smith carded a second round score of 77 and is in a tie for seventh place after an opening round of 73. Freshman Astrid Parsson also posted a 77 which coupled with her opening round of 74 put her in ninth place with a 151. In a tie for 13th place was Mackenzie Mack who followed up her 76 on day one with a 78 for a two-day score of 154.
Freshman Emily Dixon carded a 78 in her second round of collegiate play after posting an 82 on day one. Her score of 160 is in a tie for 22nd place. Fellow freshman Christina Beyerl posted an 81 one day after recording an 85 which gives her a 166 and is good enough for a two-day total of 166.
Lamar recorded a second round score of 293 and leads the tournament after two days with a tournament total of 596. Host Lamar is in second after following up their opening round score of 299 with a 306. Their two-day score of 305 is just ahead of Lousiana-Monroe who followed up their opening round of 304 with a team score of 306 on the second day for a tournament total of 310.
Indiana State’s 310 on the second day adds to their first round score of 305 and their tournament total of 315 is good enough for fourth place. Behind the Sycamores are Arkansas State (623); Butler (632); Northeastern State (648) and West Georgia (678).
The third and final round of the Chris Banister Gamecock Classic is scheduled for Tuesday.
