Did we get votes last year? It's nice to be ahead of NDSU, I guess, but they did beat us by 39 points last year. Guess I don't know how much to make of this. It's certainly positive, I just don't know how positive.

the bye bye bye-zun won't be happy about this, I bet there is a full meltdown over on byezunville, their rivals from Grand Forks are even ranked ahead of them, I wonder what's driving them more crazy??

This is nice, but I-AA preseason polls are even more meaningless than the I-A polls. Reminds me of my senior year when we were ranked 14th in the preseason poll and finished the year 5-6 or 4-7. A nice little nod to us, but as was said before, it means nothing until we start proving something on the field...

This would be a good year to start doing that, of course...

Realistically I don't think anyone takes this very seriously; however it is nice to see the name in boldface. It gives recognition for good recruiting and hard work by coaches and players alike. A little recognition can go a long way in terms of a little extra effort in practice. It might even reduce some of the ridiculous remarks these guys have put up with on campus in recent years.

I think this simply states that pundits are liking the progress the program has made. We've landed some quality transfers that should instantly increase production and we've got a schedule that lends itself to a couple easy wins -- or what should be easy wins. Throw in the fact that Trent's first couple recruiting classes are now upperclassmen with experience and there should start to be fruit on that Sycamore tree.

From memory in 2002 ISU beat Northern Iowa at ISU's homecoming. I can't recall the score. Also both opponents web-sites show that in most games this year people will be underestimating our improved team. Upsets anyone???

I believe there will be an upset or 2 this year, we'll see. Mizzery St. fans with the same attitude as all the other teams' message boarders. I think MSU could be one of the teams ISU beats this season.

Yes in 2002 my first year we beat them...they had a last second touchdown that was ruled out of bounds...and we won...we lost to ball state that year by 2...and eastern beat us with romo on a last second touchdown pass...it was tied 19 to 19 and it was 4th and 1 with time winding...they did a play action and everybody jumped on the pile while romo hid the ball behind his back...everyone yelled pass but it was too late...six and eastern wins..we were 5-6 that year..could have had a winning season....oh well...taking a trip down memory lane....losing seasons or not...I had a blast being a sycamore...
