Unfortunetly North retained the Victory Bell for the 2nd straight year. THN went for 2 after scoring in OT. Not much to say as I only caught the 3rd and 4th quarters. South's offense of run first run second and oh wait run third is getting old. I think its time for TH South to let Raetz go.

Listened to it online tonight. First time I've followed a South vs North game in years (I live out of town). What a way to start the football season.
 
yeah...teams that run the football tend to lose a lot now don't they....

like warren central...lol.....of course, it just might be the players that make the difference....lol.....

sometimes it doesnt matter if you air it out 50 times a game...or run the football 40 times a game....talent matters in the end......
 
Don't know if this is true or not, but I heard Dennis Raetz got mad after the game winner. He got mad and punched out a window in the press box and some glass landed on some fans who got cut. May just be a made up story, don't know for sure.
 
ummmmm...what was south's record before mark raetz got there?

how many wins did they have???? so, once again, people can chastise the coach...people chastised the previous coach....but you ultimately win with physical talent....what's happened to the talent at south????.....you can hire the greatest high school coach in the country....but, once again, where's the talent gone????......

Its up on wthitv.com now. If this is true, he should be fired, arrested/charged, and banned from VCSC events. The injuries were apparently to elementary and middle school kids.
 
I agree who the hell does he think he is if there are not assault charges against him it will show how corrupt this sytem is . First you have Officer Roman getting away with what he did and now this maybe he is frustrated with a loss but what a jerk to punch a window because your sons team now has a 7-25 record over 3 plus seasons
 
What a sour loser? Just because your son lost a big game, that is no excuse to punch out a window. If I was ISU, I would make him pay for the press box window.

i'm not getting involved in this one folks....

first of all, i wasn't there. secondly, dennis is a long time friend. anything that i say could and would be misconstrued.

so i will stay on the sidelines and watch what happens from the cheap seats. those of you who never liked dennis will take your customary shots. those of us who like dennis will try to understand (but not condone) what happened.

That is a great record as well!!!!!

Since MR has gotten to THS he has been 2-2 in Bell games.

If you are calling for MR to get fired then CB gets fired too.

Both coaches do a great job with what they have. The MIC is the best high school football conferance in the Midwest. It will be very hard for both schools and coaches to ever have a winning record.
 
As familiar that he is with the facility I have a hard time believing he thought it was plexiglass. Since he is not on the staff at South why was he even allowed to be on the phones? His son can even do the job or he can not Dad needs to sit in the stands.

I don't really have a problem with either guy. The one difference I see though is I believe North has beaten every team in the MIC in the last 4-5 years minus Warren Central I believe. Raetz hasn't beaten any except North that I know of.

Barrett's (and North) the media darling in Terre Haute. He can do no wrong.

Since MR has taken over in 2007, he's beaten MIC oppen North (twice) and Indianapolis North Central (twice).

This cracks me up. The North fans think South is media darling. I didn't remember South beating North Central. North has beaten Center Grove, Carmel, Ben Davis, North Central, and Lawrence North within the past 4-5 years.

I root for both teams. However, North has a brighter future IMO. They are loaded on sophomore and freshman classes. Their JV ans freshman beat South today as well for what its worth.
 
Makes no difference to me whether Raetz should have been there or that he hit the window. Obviously bad judgment on his part. That should be dealt with.

The responsibility lies, in this situation, with the designer and manufacturer of the press box. The window should have been tempered safety glass. The result would have been no chards, therefore most likely no injury. Hopefully whoever is responsible for the facility gets this change made Monday. The same broken window could have resulted from someone tripping or (I hate to say this) horseplay.

I'm not saying Raetz is blameless. But this near tragedy could have been avoided by the company that provided the press box. And most certainly this structure was approved by multiple inspectors--are they blameless? Not in my book.
 
I am glad I am not the only one that thought that! I will always love Denny but this was a lapse of judgement for sure but it WAS.....not intenional. Embarrasing yes~
