Like the rest of my cohorts, I was hoping for a better end result. We simply didn't have the quality arms to get the job done. We lose our #1 HR hitter (Rosselli), our All-MVC 1st Team second baseman (DeJesus), best conference glove man @ 3B (Young) and our heavy -duty catcher (Moore) for next year...big holes to fill. We'll probably bring in a JC "horse" to replace Moore. Dungan & Peru RS frosh NOlAN BRIMBURY will likely battle for the 2B position, Tofteland looks to be the heir-apparent of Young's 3B. It was good to see CHRIS AYERS back in action today, and as expected he made a couple good plays, although his bat was rusty from live inactivity. He can cover ground and has the tools to fill the CF position. I look forward to seeing a healthy DILLIN DIEHM (Garrett HS) next season - we could've used his bat this past season. Not sure if he'll be @ 1B or OF, but the kid literally murders the ball!

Not sure what Coach Hannahs has planned for pitching. We need IMPROVED arms on the mound or we're doomed to repeat the '16 season. Enjoy your Summer, boyz!

BTW, Bruce Rosselli of the Rex took my Warn Field "Playground Activity" suggestion and is already checking on costs, which is far more than anyone @ ISU ever went w/ the idea. Reminds me of the HC Larry Bird statue w/o any lights..., where I ultimately contacted TH Mayor Duke Bennett to get results.

Roster at GoSycamores.com has Rosselli listed as a Redshirt Jr. Is that wrong, is he graduating, used up eligibility, or going pro?

Thanx for the correction! Rosselli should be back next year...not sure if he'll be back in CF or LF with Ayers' ability to cover ground. Rosselli accelerates quicker but Ayers can cover the most territory. If Ayers hits the weights & gains some musculature/durability, we'll have a wonderful OF in '17 (Rosselli, Ayers, Owen). I was not impressed w/ some of Coach Hannah's OF configurations THIS season. An OFer has to 1) have a stick 2) have an arm (yes, this means hitting the cutoff man high in the GLOVE shoulder to facilitate a rapid throw) 3) have the ability to get a good jump on the ball off the bat & cover ground 4) have a glove. 5) know how to play specific batters while thinking ahead on his throws & not waiting to "look up" to see where a runner is.

Rosselli needs to focus on protecting the plate w/ 2 strikes instead of always having a HR swing. With his short swing, shouldn't be a real problem. I'd also like to see TR become more of a base stealing threat, given his rapid acceleration. He just needs to learn to read a pitcher to maximize his lead potential. His quickness is a real asset in this regard.
