Hey, Indiana State's baseball team -- which earned a bid to this year's NCAA baseball tournament with a 41-17 record and the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship under its belt -- got a "oh by the way" mention in today's Indy Star. Of course, you had to really look for it. But it's there. lol

Not sure how many people read the Indystar anymore, or look to it for college baseball news, truthfully, so not sure how much it matters.

Not to worry as Friday you are playing Cal State "Who?" so named when Kentucky was shaving points during March Madness and we made it to the Sweet 16. We are also known as Cal State Disneyland since many students work there during the summer and weekends.

I guess my original post is caught up in moderation (new to forum) but greetings from sunny Southern California.

Looking forward to a good game this Friday,

Rosco

P.S. Ronnie Prettyman is a former Titan and still remembered for his antics.

P.P.S. Our Baseball forum is http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=45&f=2231

Yo Rosco,

Were you in the "Dukes of Hazard?" Given all the movie stars in your neck of the woods, it never hurts to ask.

Ronnie's ol' man (aka "RP") has done a wonderful job during his short stint @ ISU! We almost lost him a couple yrs. ago to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. RP first hired LINDSEY MEGGS, who had a short (but successful) baseball tenure @ ISU before darting up to the U. of Washington HC role.

What's Ronnie doing now? Wasn't he drafted? Any noteworthy stories about RP, "the kid?"

I like John Coaltrain but that's as close to the Dukes as I get. I'll have to look at some old videos to see what we got on Ronnie to motivate the current Titans and Trees. We have a baseball forum at Scout.com - mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=45&f=2231 if you want to read our postings and rile up the fans.

The only good thing about California is the scenery, the weather and the bikinis. Otherwise we are becoming the Greece of the USA. BTW if you say Trees to the Fullerton faithful they will think Stanford as they have come down and whooped us at our home field a few times in the playoffs. We do have Sycamores all over here as the farmers planted them as wind breaks for the fields back in the 40's.

There is a good interview with our old coach who is now a Duck here:

That's the news from Titanland,

Rosco P. Stacktrain

P.S. Fullerton is a train town.

Bank, you say I must not follow college baseball and you don't even know who our assistant coaches are, lmao. For your info Ronnie was a assistant coach with the Rex last summer as well.

You think the Indy Star coverage of this huge sports story is bad, come to Fort Wayne....our name is only mentioned in the bracket pairings.

They've had stories on Purdue in the morning and evening papers...but even Purdue gets screwed here. Their coverage was on the 2nd page of the morning paper and on the 5th page in the evening paper.

Trust me, the sports writers in Indy, Fort Wayne and cities all over Indiana, know what a big deal it is to play in the College Baseball World Series. If it was IU, there would not stop blathering about them, with stories on every player on the front page of the sports section.
