Monday night's "clutch" play of the game in Florida's 4-3 win in "Best of 3" Championship w/ LSU:

The Gator's RHP Singer is a helluva "sewing machine"...

**Huge defensive "blunder" by FL LFer on that one play early in the game, chasing/catching a FOUL fly ball in LF which allowed the runner from 3B to score. Had it been a "lazy" fly & easy to catch footwork, no problem, but the LFer was running full force toward the LF wall, thus unable to SHIFT his momentum for a good throw to the dish.

A really good game to watch. The Florida pitching maneuvers were classic. A kid who had started just one game during the season throttled LSU and then the presumed Florida game three starter sealed the deal!

Agree...never WATCHED any of the CWS games, but went "old school" and listened to the GREAT WestwoodOne broadcast team. They said that Gator Coach Kevin O'Sullivan was pacing back & forth the dugout in the 8th inning, reaching for the "Bullpen Phone" on 5 or 6 occasions before bringing in the projected Game 3 (if needed) starter in relief. That move was brave, but he simply said to himself, "This game & championship is winnable TONIGHT." No bullshit Wednesday game...

That 8th inning "Runner Interference" call was devastating to LSU. Just think...they would've tied the game @ 2 w/ no outs. Instead, two (2) outs and runner returned to 3B.

Helluva CWS this year...and the Gators get their 1st-ever (can ya believe it?) CWS trophy...for a squad that only had one (1) hitter OVER .300.

Finally, did everyone read about the father of LSU's Game #2 SP saving the life of an 87 yr.ld fan in the stands during the Monday night game?

It was fortunate to have the boys father -- a doctor for 25 years -- in the stands along with a retired firefighter.

Yes, that was clearly a very good "runner interference" call. That boy took out the second baseman to the point of almost spiking him. The LSU player had already crossed the plate when the slide occurred, so the run would have counted as the double play was made despite the spiking!

Great drama and good umping. The cameras showed the boy who did the spiking several times after the episode. Boy, I'll bet he feels really low!

The runner @ 3B was RETURNED to 3B - no run scored. This is NOT a "time play." The subsequent "batter-runner" is also out, regardless to whether he beat the throw to 1B.

- Is Slaughter talking to his grandma? Wonder if Ty Cobb was a "role model" and he sharpens his spikes on a grinder or uses the ol' hand file?
